Default Water Spots

What do you use to remove the water spots on a Mercury Cowl? I put Rejex on it yesterday and noticed water spots on the lower part of the cowl. I was thinking about using a cleaner wax but black is such an easy color to screw up that I thought I would ask first.

BTW- Rejex is something else. I don't know how long it will last but it sure does put a shine on a cowl. It's literally like looking in a mirror.

Vinegar and water works well for removing water spots

Thank you Surfhunter I came home and tried your suggetion. But... I tried a 50-50 vinegar and water with no luck, then a 75 - 20 vinegar and water with no luck, then straight vinegar with no luck. Maybe the rejex is keeping me from getting to the water spots and if it is then that stuff is even better than I thought. I'll try some cleaner to get the rejex off and try the vinegar and water again.

Any other suggestions?

yup - you can't get to the spots...call rejex on the bottle and ask them what strips it - then get it off and do the vinegar thing again...if that does not work try some cowl finish compound that merc sells....

Glen E, you were right about Rejex. Perfect for a cowl and probably perfect for a lot more. I wish I had done more than just "wash" the cowl before putting the rejex on. I should have inspected everything for more than dirt and scratches.

I'll call around, figure this out, and post back.

Thanks.

Default Water Spots ---- Got the answer

I discovered water spots on my Mercury Cowl as I was polishing freshly applied Rejex. Well, if you don't know, Rejex is some serious protection and will repel most non-abrasive chemicals including vinegar. But I still wanted the water spots off.

I got the water spots off and the Rejex off with "3M Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover For Dark Colored Cars". Part No. 051131 or 39009. I re-Rejexed and am back to good with outstanding protection. No scratches or swirl marks.

Thanks for all replies. Hope this helps someone else.
