Default Clean-up

I recently replaced the carpet in my boat, I am now trying to remove the excess glue, I tried using a scraper, it will take the glue off but it leaves those little gray marks that wont come off.
I spoke with my neighbor & he suggested that I use oven cleaner "the spray kind", but I wasnt sure if this would hurt/compromise the fiberglass.

Do anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the dried up glue.

Please Advise any helpful info will be greatly appreciated

"Good-Off" will probably do it. I think this is an acetone based liquid so it's possible plain acetone may do the trick. If you go to any hardware store you'll find a variety of possible solvents. My suggestion is to remove as much with the scraper as you can before using the solvent or you'll end up smearing the old adhesive around before it comes clean.

I cant remember the product I used when I pulled the carpet of the insides of my tin boat. I do know it advised to have plenty of ventilation. I was working outside and still was very affected by the fumes. Fortunatly for me I had a gas-mask with a new cartridge and was able to finish the job.

If you go to a smaller hardware store, the clerk or manager is more likely to know which precautions are appropriate or you can just buy a respirator to be safe. Those little surgical masks do not remove fumes from the air, just particles.

Good luck!
