I understand taking off black soled shoes before going on a boat and if you're a delaer trying to sell a million dollar yacht at a boat show you want to protect it so you post the sign"No Shoes Please".
Last winter I was asked to remove my boat shoes before getting on the new Scout Vintage- a little over the top I thought but I figured they were trying to work the image angle etc. but it annoyed me a little even so. This past Friday at a show I was asked to remove my boat shoes before getting on a 23' Sailfish. Nice boat and all but c'mon its a center console fishing boat.
If this is the trend we may be soon checking our shoes at the door or be forced to purchase those little booties mechanics are supposed to wear. Next boat show I'm going barefoot- I figure the odor may make some rethink their policy!
I agree!! I hate it when I'm told to remove my boat shoes. If you're trying to sell boat you should allow buyers to wear whatever they want. After the shown, detail the boat; cost of doing business. When you go to buy a car they don't make you remove your shoes for a test drive.
On the other hand maybe this shows the dealer actually cares about his boats and the condition they will be in when they are finally delivered to a customer. Want to buy a boat from a dealer that does not give a rats azz?

If they cared that much, they wouldn't let anyone on them at all without doing a security check. I think they're just lazy. It doesn't take that much to remove a scuff mark.
Until you own it, do as the owner asks. If that boat belonged to your buddy down the dock, and he asked you to remove your shoes before boarding, you would have no problem respecting his request. Maybe this boat was already sold with the new owner allowing it to be used in the show (this happens all the time) This owner may have made this request...... After alkl, the sign did say "Please".
When at shows, we put on the sign that says no shoes please.......but when I see someone with sneakers, boat shoes or other soft soled shoes, I tell them it is ok. What worries me is the Spiked heels, Cowboy Boots and leather soled Bally Loafers........the ones where you may as well be stepping on ice when they hit gel coat....... I want to minimize the liability of someone falling and breaking their a$$ because they did not have the common sense to wear boat shoes to a boat show.
It's really pretty simple. Boat shoes or any shoe's will track dirt on the boat and get ground in. Yes it wash's off usually pretty easy, but sock's keep the boat clean.
PS They can sell all of those Crock's they want, but you will never see the Warthog wearing those Fag shoe's.
It's not that the boats shoe soles will hurt the finish of the floor it's and the tiny rocks and pebbles that get in the soles or other trash on the bottom of the shoes. I were boat shoes or sneakers on my boat and allow other to do the same but I can wash off the dirt easy to and that is hard to do at a show.
I do not wear shoes in my own house because of all the trash, gum, spit and dirt that is on the street. I want to be able to lay on my clean carpet. If someone want me to take my shoes off to get on there boat I have no problem with that. For some people a $25k boat is a huge streach to afford and I respect that no matter how much a boat costs.
That's it I am drawing the line here, I don't care who you are those words about the crocks are fighting words.
What are you so worried about your image, you must be one of those people who wear their dress up clothes on their boats you are obviously a homosexual!!!!
This is fun, now its time to say something about your MAMA!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
frankly, i think it is common courtesy to take your shoes off if they aren't the right type, like you take your hat off when you go in a house....if you want to leave it on, fine until you are asked to remove it....dark soles make a huge mess, not just the stray marks, the whole deck gets dingy looking rather quickly
