Default Ordering New Bluewater - 2850 or 2550?

I've decided to order a new Bluewater. I'm torn between the 2850 with twin 250 HPDI's and the 2550 with twin 200 HPDI's. Obviously I would prefer the 2850, but it would really be stretching my budget. I would appreciate any advise from the owners. How much different is the ride? The livewell seems a little small on the 2550 and there's no option for an additional livewell. Other than that, the smaller storage spaces in the 2550, less beam, etc. don't bother me too much. I'm mainly concerned with the ride.

Also, the LOA is listed at 31' for the 2850 and 25'5" for the 2550. So it appears they count the engine bracket length in the 2550 and they don't in the 2850. Is this correct? So there's almost 6' of difference between the two?

I'm really looking forward to buying the boat. Just want to make sure I make the right decision after balancing all the factors. One last thing -I've seen some prices quoted on this board that are lower than what I've been quoted. Is there any negotiating room? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Can't answer your BW questions, but I would suggest buying what doesn't overly stretch you financially. Personally, I tend to enjoy my toys more if I stayed within a reasonable budget. Besides, your spending is far from over when the boat purchase is completed.

With regard to the baitwell "not being an option", I honestly thought Bluewater boat were custom. I would think they could do whatever baitwell setup you wanted ... single large well ... multiple wells.

Second, there have been many threads about how's the ride compares on this 25-footer vs. this 30-footer or whatever. Just about 100% of the time the answer is ... the bigger boat rides better.

I stand corrected on the livewell. They do offer a 60 gallon livewell instead of the standard well. That alleviates that concern.

There are so many good deals now on used boats because of the economy . . . why spend all that extra $$$ on a new boat??

BigShrimpin, the economy has affected new boat sales as well. Boat dealers are dealin' big time!

I keep hearing about the dealing on new boats, but I just don't see much of it in South Florida. I've given several dealers a chance to come back to me with better offers and I never hear back.

The main reason to buy new for me is the lack of 250 HPDI's and 225 4-strokes in the used boat market. I've been looking for the last 3 months and just haven't seen that much out there. I'm sure that will start changing in the coming months.
