Default Repower

I am looking into repowering a mid 80's 17 ft McKee cc with a 115 Honda. Does anyone know the approximate weight of this boat and do you think it would be enough motor. Thanks for your help.

Not sure, but welcome to the forum.

Go to the McKee Craft in the vendors section on this forum and post the question there. Key McKee may be able to answer it for you.

This is THT, you can never have a big enough engine.

Just a guess, but.... that boat is fairly light AFAIR and the Hondas are pretty heavy compared to most 2 strokes of the same HP. Performance, therefore could be much better with a 2 stroke. Don't know the weight of the Honda but seven years ago I put a 115 FICHT behind my 16 Whaler vs a Honda because of the weight issue.

I think it's a tad heavy for a 17 McKee. Maybe a 2-stroke Yamaha or E-tec. Check out Ed's Marine Superstore.

my bud had a 17 waypoint with a johnson 90 that pushed 40
he just bought a new 17 with a suzuki 140 that should be scary fast
any of the 4stroke 115's should be perfect, yamaha, suzuki or honda...
