Default Rocket Launcher/Leaning post question

I have about decided to switch out the OEM flip seat/cooler on my SV2100 to this Birdsall leaning post. I like the ability to sit and face aft, so I still want the flip back, also I have no need for more rod holders on the boat. This one looks like it'd work perfect for me. I've had rocket launcher/leaning posts on a couple previous boats but none with foot rests. A lot of the boats I fish have them but they don't seem to get used, the rests that seem comfortable to me are the ones you see mounted on the console not the leaning post. Birdsall makes foot rests that I could mount on the console instead. What have you guys found more comfortable?

I use the flip down rest on my leaning post all the time. That looks like a nice set up.

I have the birdsall leaning post with the same footrest you see there. I like it a lot. I use it much more than I thought, and my wife really likes it, another reason I like it is that, even as a big guy, (200 + lbs) I can stand on it and get a good look around. Never used one on the console. FWIW, while visiting the shop where my boat was built, I saw the builder install the same swingback above on somebody's boat and it was VERY sweet. I think you'll like it

good luck

Very nice. I have foot rest on mine and it is a must. It flips up out of the way when you don't want to use it.

Okay, I will do the step. One on the console really would be a P.I.A. anyway as it would need to have quick release pins so I could access the console when necessary.

Another question or request for suggestions.
The nice storage compartment was obviously designed for the models with rod holders, thus leaving about 8" x 8" of air behind the compartment. I'm thinking that area would be a good spot for a Starboard shelf or open top compartment for knives, pliers, maybe sinkers... If I'm going to do that, I can have Birdsall add a mounting strip or tabs to the aluminum to support it when I order it.
Suggestions or thoughts welcome.

I have the bigger birdsall post (rocket launcher I think) and the fold down foot rest option is a MUST! I really like using it when going slow (or fast in smooth water), and can kick it up out of the way when I want to stand. The "Whale Tail" around the back is MUST #2.... Then the SCUBA tank rack....

Doesn't get much better than a tricked out Birdsall post...
