Default Sea Ray Laguna Large hatch

I just bought a Sea Ray Laguna 20' CC 1989. It has a huge forward hatch for storage, ect. I have concerns that if the boat were to take a lot of water over the bow, the water would flow directly into the hull. I am not used to a boat without scuppers for water drainage.

Should I be concerned, is the hatch designed to be water tight?

Should I run some kind of weather proofing strip along the inside edge?

Would it be wise to add foam to the inside hull and reduce the potential water volume? Or add another bildge?

Thanks for the info, sorry for the questions. I want to be prepared to fish 20+ miles offshore in Ca.

if have a 23 cc sea ray laguna twin opti's, my deck is self bailing and has two transom doors as well, these boats are tough. a friend has one too, he purposed it one day we got wet but not much water in the bilge. those hatches typically do not leak.....

Thants great to hear. as I stated my last boat had scuppers and self bailed. Question, for you with the 20' could I add scuppers? I like to enjoy going offshore and want to eliminate the fear of sinking! I guess that by opening the rear transom doors and giving it some throttle the water would flow right out?
If any one has experience with the hatches and suggestions please keep it comming!
Thanks
