A lot of the 7, 8, and 9 meter boats have been built through Noah, so I would talk to him through his link about fuel economy.
Any round bottom cat will go faster with more power, but you will add a lot of weight for motors and a lot more fuel to get very little gain and your economy dives with displacement sponsons over 30 mph. You want mono speeds, buy a planning hull and pound your guts out.
But then you can go the Old Bull way like the photo below of this 38' X 13' beam supercat, another cat out of Africa. This ones runs all day on a pair of 85-115 hp motors getting 5 mpg, cruising at 18 knots. Very smooth and stable ride so you can also run the blender and have a good time on the water instead of doing a death grip on the ttop bouncing around.
IMO, World Cat and Glacier Bay haven't done anything new for years, so I kinda laugh when I see guys sticking their chest out and bragging on them.
Here is another New Zealand designer who is miles ahead of anything found in the states.
