Default Yamaha Controls

Every boat equiped with yamaha's that I have seen have had digital gauges that tell you fuel economy, engine hours, fuel in tank, ect.
I am looking at a 2000 Grady with twin 200 HPDI's. The batteries are disconnected and will not be connected until the survey and I am trying to figure out if this boat will have this option.
Does ALL yamahas have this information? Only certain years? Do all Grady's have this?

Not all of the digital gauges have the fuel economy option. Yamaha makes a gauge that combines fuel economy with the speedometer. However they did not have it in 2000. The boat probably has 2 multi-function tachs and a multi-function speedometer. You will have to check to see if it has a Fuel Management Gauge.

You can view these gauges and their functions here:

hi,
should have 3 gauges one fuel management and two speed/rpm/hour/temp/oil gauge for each engine.

Thanks. It looks like if I read the type of gauge I can go to that web site and see what it will do.
I have been told that the boat has 150 hours on it and I was hoping to turn the key and verify that before I paid for a marine inspection... may not be able to do that though. So why was someone asking about installing a hour meter on there 2001 26' grady. It looks like they all show hours!

Negative on that last transmission Tim, I'm the Grady guy and I don't know all that much about these guages put on mine I think they show all of the above except the hours. I think it was 02 or 03 when the guages included hours.... a yamaha tech can plug his laptop in and down load hours and rpm history that type stuff on the hpdi's. BTW if you research it I think you'll find that the hpdi's are great motors.........what grady are you looking at and what power does it have?

Thanks Walt,
It has the 200 HPDI's. I have done a tone of research on these boats and motors and feel comfortable with this model engine.
I was not aware I could not get the hours out of it.
Thank you

Tim,
As you've prob. already heard these are great motors my 26 grady gets 2.8 mpg w/ light load at a 28-30mph cruise and the grady is not a light boat. So far I've been really impressed w/performance and lack of noise and smoke.

Walt,
Can you get fuel burn info off of the gauges?
Going to take a look today to try to figure this out. I really like the Grady layout and these motors.

Virtually every twin Yamaha setup will include a fuel management gauge that can display fuel consumption for each engine one at a time or for both combined. They need this gauge for twins because it also has the synch indicator. So as noted above, if you see three of the round gauges, you almost certainly have a tach for each engine and a fuel management gauge. But you probably have four gauges since it is a relatively high end boat, which means two tachs, a speedometer, and the fuel management gauge. The tachs will show hours if they are 2002 or newer, which you will see when you turn the key whether the motor is running or not. You might need to push the "mode" button on the tachs to display the hours depending on how it was set when last run. If you are buying the boat, be sure to get a Yamaha tech to hook up the dianostic software because it will confirm the hours, but even better tells you how many of those hours were run at various RPM ranges so you can see if the boat was run at WOT a lot. A dealer can also pull the service and repair history off the Yamaha warranty system, another very good source of information.
