Default Rod storage while trailering the boat?

Being a new boat owner (CC), I was wondering ware everyone stored their rods/reels during trailering. I only went out a few times last year, and I placed some in the leaning post and some in the stern rod holders. While some were laid down on the floor. I didn't have to travel far to launch the boat, but next season I plan on traveling further. Is this a safe thing to do, and is there any saftey measures I can take. I obviously dont place rods in the rocket launchers because of trees/wires. Thanks, Mike

I put a cap on my truck. Trailering to FL, you just can't leave stuff in the boat overnite. Laying stuff on the floor will beat both the boat and the tackle. Cap was the only solution for me.

The lines take a beating if you leave them in the rod holders. It's like hurricane winds 60mph plus... I put mine in the gunnel rod racks or the back of the truck when driving

Out of sight in the gunnels or in the truck.

Back of the PU Bed or in the boat tied together with 1" nylon and the velcro gig it works good. If I do not stop or plan on stopping they go in the boat but if there will be stops I throw them in the truck to be safe.

I never had it happen, but I've read of people pulling up behind a boat at a stop light, and stealing the exposed rods right out of the boat. They drive away and you can't chase with a boat in tow.

I keep mine in horizontal holders low on the gunnels. Out of sight, out of mind ( I hope ) . RG

Rod racks in back of pickup. If I'm travelling far, I keep the rods un-rigged.

I always kept on floor of boat if I am not stopping. If stopping then someone stays with the boat. If overnight or stopping long and leaving boat they go in the vehicle. Now I have a cain so they go into the cabin and lock the cabin. Out of sight that way.
