Default Flush Kit for the engines

I made a double flush kit for the motors. I made female ends that go to each motor at the same time to flush them but when hooking them up and putting water on the line there was no water coming out the prop hubs or the pee hole WTF is going on. Did I make the wrong thing or is it because the engine are not running and the water pump inside is not pumping water from the hose screw in hole?

I do not want to make any mistakes please give me the scoop and run down on what I am doing wrong or right but do not know?

Thank,

What type and size motors???

I have excellent water pressure at my house and when I put the hose on my single F250 it takes forever to "fill up" the insides and the indicator hole to start peeing. Splitting that between two motors at the same time would greatly reduce the ability of the same hose to get the job done.

Also, check your manual to see if you should be running your motor while flushing it through this port. I know Yamaha says its a no no. There's a thread going right now on this very subject.

So Do I use the ear muffs over the intake holes ONLY?

The flush ports were designed for guys who kept their boats on a lift and couldn't exactly get to the lower unit to stick the muffs on to flush the motor. At least that is the way it was described to me by my dealer. Some OEM's say you can run the engine while using this port. Others say you can't. Check your manual.

BTW, the same dealer that sold me my motor and gave me the above explanation also told me that he never flushes his F250's at all.

Go figure.

City water has enough pressure for Mercs. I had something similar on my last engines... worked fine with 25 gpm water pressure. Not to be a smart azz, but do you have the shutoffs on the "T" open? You should be at least having water pour out the hub. Also, I don't know about your engine's anatomy, but my Mercs are "females." They take a male adapter (watch it there!). Warthog is correct, that you do NOT want to run your engines on water only from these flushers (use muffs when running your engines).

Steve,

I am not sure about the Honda, but that is the wrong connector for a Yamaha.

Your house water hose should connect without any fittings. It sounds like you are connecting the hose to the engine and not the "pipe."
If you look at this picture of my F200, see the gray pipe with the black connector? I unscrew that connector and screw it onto my garden hose. The garden hose does not connect to the fitting on the engine.

I can't seem to finds a picture of the flush port for your engine.

I think you might have something there HOTSPOT. It didn't hit me until I read what you wrote. I believe Steve has a pair of 200 HPDI so it should take a male garden hose into the female with the small grey tubing.

Here is what the hose connection looks like on the 200 HPDI

They are right. You need 2 male fittings to connect to the female fittings on the engine with the small grey tubes.

That said, you need to have VERY good water pressure to supply both engines with enough pressure to pee. I made a simlar device but the "Y" fitting has shut-offs for each direction. When the pressure at the dock is not enough to make both engines pee, I shut off one and flush the motors one at a time

The connectors I saw in the original picture looked like the type that would screw onto the engine. They should screw onto the gray pipe.

Just change the gender of the two you have on the ends and you should be set.

Steve ,

I would do one motor at a time to have maximum water pressure to work with and use the muff's .

Those babies are too expensive to take a chance.

I hookedup the new connections and have a solid stream from each motor pee hole at the same time or one at a time either or!! Have not started the motor yet doing it but it is working and a ton of water is coming out all the right drain holes and around the props? I will fire one and then another tommorrow and post back.

STOP.

READ MANUAL.

If the above is a picture of your motor, a Yamaha, your owners manual says running the motors while flushing through this port is a nono.

It always cracks me up that these flush threads go on for pages and pages - Aftrer reading every one of them and talking directly to more than a few outboard engineers and techs, here' my take on it.
1. If you use your engines on a weekly basis, flushing is not near as important as if they sit for months not being run...
2. The flush port is fine with engine off except for the most anal type or if you've sucked sand/bottom debris into the motor. (not a put down, I understand)
3. No flush additives are necessary unless you are in some type of polluted water.
4. If you use the muffs, stand there and watch them, muffs slipping off and engones running are what causes the biggest problems...

In summary - use the flush port for 10 min every time with good pressure you come back and the engines will be fine....

now let's get back to the real issue: ringfree or amzoil?....
