Default Sun Shade

I would like to install a sun shade on the rear deck of my 2004 Parker 2520XL .

I have looked at the one Parker offers but it appears to be confining. Any suggestions?

I have used one on three boats now. My Pro-line 231, Pro-line 2950, and now my Maycraft 2550. I have also put it up on a Parker 2520, Maxum 23, Bayliner 2655, and Rinker 312. It works great on every boat I have put it on (the worst boat it has ever fit on is my Maycraft and that is only due to my transom cleats being so far forward). I think Megabyte bought one after he put mine on his Parker 2520. You cannot run with it up but it is great for anchoring or slow creek crawling. If you plan on running with it up, you may want to go with a bimini top style cockpit shade. It is very quick and easy to put up or take down. Here is the taylor Anchor shade I use....

go to a canvas shop tell them what you want a get a custom shade.

Heres what i did on mine, it locks into the holders with pins to the rod for the buts. I can run with it on and itfolds for sorage in the cabin andits not confining at all!

Is it possible to get some specs on your sun cover? Did you use stainless? I liked it and it might work for me. Thanks for sharing your idea.

I went with aluminum for weight reasons. Stainless is about 3 times the weight of the aluminum. It all was determined from the width of the holders. the canvas has to be square to not have folding trouble. the frame hidges with tubing hindges and the angle of the holders determines the angle that the frame is set at. Go to a local shop, if he gets it off a bit it and wont fold with the canvas on a zipper in the center of a fabric (front to ****** would solve the fit trouble if the top was longer then wide. IT works great and folds up even being square and fits in my small cabin. there's a few different hidges out there that will work. to lock it in the rod holders i used a double eye end that slips over the pin in the holder for the rod buts and a locking pin keeps the top from comming off at speed.

as soon as i can get on my boat this week ill get a picture of it folded up

Mike,I really appreciate your help. My boat is under shrink wrap. I am hoping to find a boat canvas fabricator local (Boston, North Shore area) Your system seems simple and could supply the cover I am looking at. I have a sun umbrella but it is only good while stationary. I need something like yours that I can be under way and not hinder me while fishing. . My email is in my user profile.

Thanks

There is a product out the call ANCHOR SHADE;

Lightweight and versatile, Anchorshade provides comfort for those times when just lounging on your boat is the pleasure of the day. If you're looking for an alternative to the expense and permanence of a custom top and want portable shade, Anchorshade is the answer! The adjustable nylon straps allow this 6'x6' square umbrella to be used on almost any boat, from small fishing boats to larger high performance boats. Anchorshade features a light weight, mildew/fade resistant, water repellent, UV treated polyester top, which blocks out 85-90% of harmful rays. The pole and frame construction of tempered steel is phosphate-dipped and powder coated to prevent rusting. Use Anchorshade when anchored or at idle speed on a calm day, while relaxing on the water, at dockside, or while fishing the streams. Anchorshade provides portable shade at an affordable price. boating-equipment

Thanks,
Yes, I have one, it is great if you are sitting at the beach. But it is of no use while underway. I realy need one that works under way and will not hinder me when fishing. So I am trying to keep it simple and easy.
