wondering where you get wedges for transom, I have heard they help with trim and overall performance. Any info appreciated!

Have your Contender Dealer get them from Contender. About $70 and the single best thing you can do for the ride / performance of a 25 or 27 Contender. I believe the brand they sent for my boat was Land & Sea so you could likely buy them direct. If ordering a new boat you can have them installed at the factory when you place your order.

Go to Contenders website and read the message board stuff about them there. I got mine from Land & Sea for about $40 a set. Land and Sea are the people who make dynometers for motorcycles/snowmobiles/outboards and that torque shift prop etc... Contender sells them, and Fred Herman sells them. Freds are fiberglass and a little better but not neccassary. But considering the job, you might want the best money can buy. Freds are like $300 each side, vs $80 total for the aluminum type.

4dogs,
You might have found the number by now, but if you search here and the contender website and read every post about wedges you will eventually find the number, I know its somewhere in there. Sorry I can't help more. My friend just repowered his 27 with F250's and loved it. He had it done at Power Marine and ended up putting the aluminum wedges on there and was glad he did. He also lives in Wilmington. Let me know if you have any questions for him....you may know who I'm talking about.

Fred Herman is in Coral Gables (a suburb of Miami, south) 305-667-0135. If you decide to have Fred work on your boat, keep this in mind: "quality is not cheap, and cheap is not quality." Fred is the best of the best and if you have to ask what it costs, you don't want to take your boat to Fred.
