Dont under power it, it is a big boat for its size, you need to go with twins. An aquantance of mine has one with twin 135 optimax and still says he wishes he had gone with the twins.

Twin 150's would be nice.

FWIW...Whaler's get bashed on this site. Nothing but positive feedback on Cont wave.

Tough decision. $100k for a 24' is a competative market!!!

I meant to say even though he has twins they are only 135 and he wishes he had gone with the the 150's. My point is that the standard single 225 is too small. I am not bashing, i love whaler, I own one. (even though its just a 13 footer its still a whaler)

Great boat. Mine is a 1996 with twin Evinrude 175s. The maximum power for the boat is 400 HP. The newer 24s have a maximum of 300HP. I top out at just 50 MPH with a light load. I agree you should have twin motors.

I have run my buddy's 24 with twin 130 Honda's. Definetly underpowered. Never been out in more than 2-3' average duration seas but I am sure she would have a tough time in a 3-5' head-sea due to the lack of HP.

I have a 23 Outrage and absolutely love the boat. Boston Whalers are built like tanks and the hardware, fishboxes and other features of the boat are as good as it gets in a boat of this size. I bought mine when it was 2 years old and got a pretty good deal. As much as I like it I would probably not spring for the cost of a new one. The only complaint I have is that the hull warranty is voided if you do not trailer the boat with a bunk type trailer. That is a problem for me at several ramps which are short and also a problem with the trailer brakes since they are constantly in salt water. I have always had boats with roller trailers and able to keep the hubs (and brakes) out of the salt water. A buddy of mine has a 24 and loves the boat. Good luck in your decision.
