Sorry rbb, I just installed and began using the Navman, so really can't give you an honest evaluation yet- I did have twinscan on my last boat and it worked excellent. This time I opted for a single Navman on one outboard only to cut cost- so far it seems like a decent piece, but I need more time to check it out.
I got the Standard Horizon fuel monitor, same as Navman, (I think Standard makes them for Navman) last month for $120, because of a rebate from manufacturer. Only had the boat out 2X since install, but unit seems to work fine. Drop dead easy to hook up.
I just installed the Navman unit a couple weeks ago and installation was a breeze. After two days of fishing offshore I filled up the tank and the Navman was only 0.1 gallons off what I added to the tank
The back-light doesn't do great at night, but it's still readable. My biggest problem is now I pay more attention to my fuel flow than my speed or rpm's...damn little gauge
One thing I like about the Standard F41 and the Navman is the size of the guage. It's the standard size. The Floscan requires an odd ball cutout, and takes up more room on the console.
I've heard good things about both of them. I did purchase a Flo-scan 9000 series. ~540
It will calculate the NMPG while it is hooked up to your GPS and its digital with 3 seperate colors for distinction while cruising. Easy hookup for me...
Real time fuel data while cruising. I'm amazed at the slighest tweak of the tabs will adust overall mileage by .25nmpg or better....
Similar to In Too Deep I wind up staring at that damn thing too much
thanks for the info. what i have found so far is that you are paying for the name and a few features extra. if the navman is accurate i think i will save a few bucks and skip the extras.

I used the navma all last year. The accuracy was terrible out of the box (off by about 20 gallons) but after several calibrations it was within 1-2 gallons (close enough for me) this year when I went to use my boat for the first time I noticed the transducer was not reading any flow. I returned the transducer and I just got my new one in the mail today. (3 days after they received it) I also have to say it was easy to install as well.
