Default Suzuki shifting problems

I have a 2005 200 Suzuki with Suzuki controls. It had been a wonderful motor. The only problem I have had has been with the shifting. Twice I have not been able to get it out of forward. It "cured" itself the first time and worked properly the rest of the day. I ran it several hours the next weekend and had the problem again when coming back to the dock. I put it on the trailer and carried it to the dealer this Saturday. He left a message for me that he could not find anything wrong. I will call him tomorrow to discuss the situation and would like to know if anyone else has had any issues with Suzukis shifting. I suppose the problem could be at either end of the cables. Any suggestions?

I mentioned this problem a while back when it happened the first time and was told by some gentleman that his Yamaha had had some problems with the cable under the cowl not being well lubricated. This problem does not seem to be a sticky cable because it works very slickly when it does work. It feels as if something is blocking some critical moving part.

If htese are new cables I doupt they are sticking. How about real sharp bends in the cable??? If not Maybe the cable does need a slight adjustment back under the cowl to center the shift control arm.

Check the cable adjustment, switch near the shift linkage, water in gear oil.

Most likely problem is throttle cable adjustment. The throttle is not fully closing, causing the engine to idle high. The problem is more pronounced if Extreme type cables were not used when rigging.
