Default F225 Oil Change

About 4 OR 5 months ago, someone submitted an excellent post on changing the oil in a Yamaha 4-stroke. It included a recommended manufacturer for a plastic vacuum tank, I recall it looked similar to a typical yard sprayer. If this post could be referenced or re-posted, it would be appreciated. Also, can anyone recommend a specific oil filter wrench or socket, I bought one from NAPA and it didn't quite work like it was supposed to.
Thank you.

i use the tempo oil boy- a little slow- does't hold entire sump- works great though. Oil Filter- it sucks. Someone did have a good idea on here. Trim up a little and put a ziploc bag around the filter before you start the flood.

Filter wrench - Facom adjustable works great, never could find a 72.5mm fixed.

Got a Tempo hand pump vac changer, works well also. Make SURE to get a 6qt version. Overtons and other places.

I just drain my oil out of the drain plug on the side. I hand tighten the filter, then use a strap wrench for about 1/4 turn after that.

I believe that I was the one who posted the question. After trying a cheaper solution, I bit the bullet and bought a Jabso pump and wired an attachment to the cigarette lighter for power (my batteries are in the console). While the pump is a bit off balance, it works better than any other pump I've tried. I recommend doing it right the first time and not wasting your time. It is good advice to tilt the engine up and change the filter that way. Good luck

Hot Spot. That was a great post. I just bookmarked it. I have a 2005 F250, which is supposedly almost the same as the F225. I am thinking your instructions would be the same?

OK help me understand something here-

I did not get the yamaha attachment for the tempo. I simply use the tube it comes with and snake it down inside the tube to the bottom of the sump where the end of the dip stick lives. I pump out 5 quarts, dump it in an old container and pump out one more quart (The oil boy only holds 5 quarts). Six quarts out, six quarts in. It is a little slow with the small tube, but it gives me time to take off the oil filter cover, loosen the filter and put on my plastic bag.

It seems to me that removing the plug is not necessary. Furthermore, the manual says to avoid removing the plug and, if you do, to replace the gasket. I'm not sure what the big deal is with the plug- aluminum midsection, stupid guy with airtools maybe?

Thanks for all the responses, especially to HOTSPOT for the extra effort (pics, etc.).
NormandyBeach said that he "bookmarked" it, how do I do that ? How long will the "bookmark" remain valid ?
THT is certainly doing its job and the $30 for CC is the best investment I've made on this boat.
Thanks again!

on a f115, all i use is a socket and an extension for the plug, and a good pair of channel lock pliers for the filter. if you are concerned about getting all of the oil out, drain it, then tilt the motor all the way up and back down , and the rest will come out. also if you check your oil at the end of the day and it shows a little low on the stick, don't panic. tilt the motor up and down and re check it again. chances are it will be be where it was before.

eat a. pogy,

You are correct, you do not have to have the adapter, but the oil comes out much quicker if you use it.

The last time I changed my oil back in July of this year, I used the small hose. This keeps me from having to remove the plug as it gets all of the oil out.
