Default Transatlantic Crossing

After seeing Megabyte's photos of the trawlers, I got curious and jumped to Nordhavn's website. If you're bored at work or home, check out their site and the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally site as well as their circumnavigation site. I've been going through some of the onboard commentary of the Atlantic Rally and it's facinating. At one point they had two people in the water in 8-10 ft seas near the Azores trying to clear a fouled prop.

Great, overbuilt boats, worked on alot of them....very pricey....some have really poor access to stuff, most are packed with every bell and whistle...used for going up and down the ditch....Mick

They have a DVD of the trip that's pretty interesting, there's some nice footage of the boats, both on slick calm days when people were going swimming and waterskiing off the dinghies, and the rougher days and problems that had the guys going in the water. I'm on their mailing list so they just sent it to me, I think you can request a copy from their website.

I have been reading of the NAR on their site lately, and ordered and received a copy of the magazine that chronicles passages in their boats. Good stuff, that is only a lottery dream of mine. Hey, it only takes a dollar and a dream!
I may order the DVD, in the dead of winter, to get me through.

I sent my info for the DVD yesterday. It's free, so what the heck. Should be good watching.

I was a captain on the 62 for 8 years, started on hull #3 and ran just about every model up into 2003. Even after living onboard fulltime and logging over 100,000 miles on Nordhavns all over the world, I can still say they are my favorite trawlers. If I could afford one, I would own one
