I have a mako 23 ft with a cuddy cabin (238). The bow has about a 4 inch lip on it. Does anyone know of a way to put a pulpit for my anchor on this boat? I thought of building up the deck with starboard but I dont think it will look god at all. Suggestions?
Mumblerone's right. With Starboard sticking out there it will look like a limp noodle after a while.
Most store bought unit's that you see are built with a plywood core and glassed over, then gellcoated.
I went for alum, for 2 reason's. 1st hitting it with an anchor and ground tackle dragging over it is not going to hurt it. 2nd the lighter weight.
Understand that I have acess to fabbing this stuff together.
Here's a pix of the jig I built out of plywood to hold the piece's at the proper place while tacking it together. The plywood is removed after that.
come on now bobby, you know that the real reason is you went with alluminum is that you like show off you fabrication abilities & overbuild everything . Well, it is going to look beter than glass.
Sweet work there, please post pics after you install it on the boat. Do you any of you trailer guys with pulpits have any problems with the pulpit hitting the bow stop or winch stand on the trailer? I realize this has a lot to do with the entry angle when launching/retrieving, I am considering putting one on my boat as I am tired of struggling with the anchor on the front of the boat in choppy waters, seas.

A couple of thing's will help with that problem. 1st as you said the depth of the trailer in the water.
Next a set of foward keel bunk's can be installed. This will not only guide the boat on better when powerloading, but they can be adjusted to lift the bow of the boat as it come's foward.
lastly, Cut the winch stand post down some. If there is a a lot of extra sticking up. There's no need for it. It was just a stock winch stand that the trailer manufacture stuck on there.
We ran out of Argon the other day so we just got a few tack's done. This should give you a better idea of what it will look like.
The Windline roller came from Jim @ By Owner Marine. There is a 8in alum clete that will be welded on the back where it look's like a ramp. Special Thank's to Jay at BlackLab Marine.
