I just sold a 31 tiara with 315 cummins , i only put about 450 hrs on the boat . the engines where the best thing about it. Never one hicup from either engine and they never used any oil. At 2450 rpms it burned 16 gal/hr at 24-25 knts, great motors.

The 5.9l Cummins has had some issues in the early 90's. I am pretty sure thay were all cleared up by the time the 315 diamond came out.

The Experts over at Boatdiesel will ask you for the CPL numbers. Surprise them, and have it ready.
These numbers will tell them exactly what engine you have, what went into it, and what updates have been done.

It is not unheard of for a seller to claim to have engines that are better than what they really have. The 315 is generally considered to be good and reliable.

Got one. Almost 900 hrs on it & it pushes my Albin 32 around pretty good. No grumbles except changing the impeller is one major PIA. Have a very minor fuel seepage at #2 injector & a couple of starter issues in the almost 500 hrs I have put on it. Parts are plentyful. With that 5.9L block all those Dodge owners can't be wrong.

Awesome engines. Easy to find parts, simple to service, great resource available on www.boatdiesel.com and they are a tried and true engine. As usual make sure they spin 50-100 rpm above ratings will full load. Underpropped, clean filters and those engines will last a long long time.
