Default Venice La

Just got back from Venice. The roads are open to property owners. The destruction just can't be believed. In most of the area there aren't 2 boards left nailed together. There is nothing to salvage from most homes. Even expecting the worst it is worse. The good news would be that if your boat was on the top 2 racks at Cypress Cove it is O.K.

I went to Delacroix Island to see the heap of ruble my camp is for the 1st time yesterday. Pictures just cannot do the scene justice. The power of water is incredible. There were refrigerators on top of roofs with what few structures were even left. My camp had steel girders that were ripped down. All I found of personal possessions was the microwave and a old bottle of crown royal St Bernard parish is destroyed. Looks like a neutron bomb went off It will be years before any real restoration occurs in that parish.

Hey, Ironbanks, I heard that Delacroix basically is a large mud flat now and that you can't run an outboard in most of the waterways? Is that true? I've been trying to call Capt. Ernie (guide in Delacroix) since the storm to check on him. Haven't gotten him yet. Boy, I'm really going to miss fishing down there.

St.Bernard will take years to rebuild, but they will!Fishing will return soon.Problem will be that alot of trash will be in the water for years to come. Now,if only they would close off the MRGO!
