I have no ax to grind with Bayliner... never owned or been on one (except at boat shows), but you have to know how the MFG will stand behind ( in this case WAY BEHIND) his product when you shell out your hard earned $$$
OK..OK..so I didn't know it had been posted before... it was new to me. I'll tell ya what...if I was looking at Bayliners after reading that, I wouldn't have one if it was given to me!!!
Not everyone has been a member here since the dawn of time...............
Nothing is worse than Bayliner repeats. It is bad enought when we get reruns on TV but please not on THT. By know we all know and think Bayliners are the YUGO's of the water.
After reading the info on the Bayliner I felt compelled to go to their defense. We purchased a used Ciera 2452 in 1998 with 80 hours. We now have over 960 hrs and have never had any problems with it. I'd buy another one with no reservations.
But... I have only been on this board for a few weeks... haven't read every freaking post there ever was, so I didn't know. I found that post on another BB, which was posted on 8/16 by the poster so I thought it was current.
One reason this forum is here is to help everyone and to hopefully keep people from getting burned or having a bad experience regarding their boating. Maybe this is new info to someone and has some value to them.
The real value to me of that post wasn't about that particular boat, but what Bayliner did and didn't do to support their product and service their customer.
I'm sorry you "old timers" had to be inconvenienced by reading my wretched repeat... guess I'll just lurk from now on and let the "experts" provide me with their wisdom.
Gee Rodge, a little teste maybe. I wasn't offended or put out by your post. Of course I didn't read the article either. Bayliner reports just aren't interesting.
Come on back, Rodge, its nothing personal against you. It's just that particular story got WAY too much play time on this and other boards. If one of the "long timers" had drug it back up they would have received a far worse reception.

And nothing is worse than a Bayliner repeat posted by Harry Krause. He has about run all the decent boating folks off of rec.boats with his arguments with "Skippy" and a few other nefarious wrecked.boats posters.
I have filters set to put everything he posts on wrecked.boats into /dev/null.
No apology needed! In fact I may be the one that needs to apologize!
My reaction was to the topic. As you pointed out, you nor anyone else on this forum can keep on top of everything that is posted. It's just that you hit upon a topic that was not only posted here but probably on every other forum that has anything to do with boats and fishing.
If you have the time (lots!), do a search on the exact same topic and you will get a real good look at what transpired hear for several weeks while that was a "hot" topic.
Reposts happen all the time and generally do not stir any reaction. We all started somewhere and understand that certain questions and topics will come up repeatedly. That one just happened to be a doozy of a repost!
Please don't feel that you can't contribute and just lurk. It's everyone's feed back that makes this a great forum! Besides, if we were all "experts" we wouldn't be here to begin with!
