I'm looking to block water intrusion into an in-deck livewell I will probably never use. I'm trying to locate a source for one-way valves put put on the drain lines of this livewell so that any water that does find its way in can be removed, but I won't get any water in the livewell through that line. I need various sizes and imagine they would be similar to the "flapper" valves found on scuppers, but am open to any and all suggestions.
Another option (the one I use) would be to cap or plug the intake thru hull. I dont keep fish and dont use bait so the only thru hull that is operational on my boat is for the raw water wash down pump.
Check valves don´t work well in sea water service where solids can prevent the seal from closing all the way to seal.
The best solution is to route your line to the well so that a loop goes up and back down the transom before it gets to the livewell. The loop has to be well above sealevel to keep water out, unless you turn on your pump.
The other is to install a plug or valve on the inlet, inside the well, where you can easily turn it off.
