Default Albin 26' Express

Does anyone have any experience with this new 05' model boat?

Looking for feedback on likes & dislikes?

I stopped by my local Albin dealer - Seacoast Marine in Newburyport, MA - back in late June to try and learn some more about this boat, they had very little information.

From what I could gather, Albin built only 1 hard top version of the 26 that they paraded around several of the boat shows and featured in advertisements late last year and early in 2005. However, now the 26 is going to be an express style with an optional canvas or hard top. At any rate, the price will be very close to $100,000.

As the local salesman pointed out, $100K would buy a nicely equipped, late-model Albin 28, which is a heck of a lot more boat.

Looks like a sawed off 28. If the 28s seakeeping performance is anything to go by it should be a nice boat. I liked the shortlived early 90s 24' Weekender better. That was another one that strayed too far from the 'normal' for the US boat buyer who seems to like everything looking pretty much like everyone else's.

I like the idea of being able to trailer it. I did hear that the hard top made it way to top heavy. This is also why so many dealers are sitting on the hard top models.
