Default anyone have 2005 or 2006 parker 2520 SL (no bracket)?

if you have one of these , and not the XL with enclosed transom, do you like it? is the lack of a closed transom a big deal for safety's sake if you stay near shore and in bays? i saw on an option seat a splashboard? good idea? anyone have a picture of one? would you recommend? i think the XL adds about 2 feet to the boat, and in my marina that means an extra $500/season over a slip for a 26'ish boat.
