Default Drinking Water?!?

Parker,
The high tech filter is just something I looked into & sounded interesting. By the time I purchase the high tech filter and then another filter to catch the metals..and install all this...I could buy alot of bottled water. I still stick with the bottled water to begin with.

Hey BIRDMAN-

What do you mean nobody drinks the fresh water from their holding tanks? Ever try it with some of that pink anti-freeze in it? Not bad, just add ice and one of them little umbrellas!

"I'll have that shaken- not stirred."

Which reminds, me. Did you ever figure out how to mount your transducer upside down inside the cooler so you could tell how cold the beers were?

Default Drinking Water?!?

Personally I'm to big on the bottled water thing. The cleanest water that man can make if it is left to stand at room temperature, it will grow it's own bateria! And that's a Fact! No fresh water is exempt from this fact

What the manufacture says on the label is one thing (and that sells the product) but Time and Warmth is the demise of all waters as far as bateria growth goes.

Oh yah, based on the articles that I've read, the sales of bottled water is a NONregulated industry! So in one hand you have the time and the warmth factors + in the other hand you have the water (which is really what?) = ????????????

Once bitten, twice shy

Default Drinking Water?!?

Water,,,is a serious topic (despite me takin th p!ss with my earlier reply!).

Maybe not so much for you guys, what with all them rocky mountains and snow you all got - but here we live on the driest continent on earth. The only people who use their potable water better than us is the Israeli's.

With the droughts we've been having, Capital city Perths water reserves were down to 18% of capacity - critical status...

Its so bad that in Perth - you are allowed to water your lawn once every 4th or 5th day for 30 mins depending on your house street number (odds evens etc) shown in the evening news each night for the following day - you break the rule - and neighbors dob you in - and the water nazi's come around and fine you big time.

Anyway - water restrictions here are a fact of life - but most folks still drink water from the tap (faucet).

Bottled water however is quite popular and all of it is marketed as "spring water this or spring water that" - most of it is bottled tap water!

A while back a few enterprising dudes started this huge water bottled selling scam where folks down our way in the high rainfall area would pay 4 or 5 grand to put in large water storeage tanks from their roofs. The rain straight off the southern ocean and lower west coast indian ocean was supposedly someo of the cleanest in the world yada yada yada.

The idea was that the co would "buy" this water and get milk tanker type trucks to haul this water to Perth and they would hire a bottling plant over weekends to bottle this water, and sell it thru supermarkets etc..

Naturally enough, when you realise what a bulky heavey commodity water is to truck any distance and what our fuel costs are with all the govt taxes in them - the project went belly up..

Lots of Farmers round these parts are still paying off their 20,000 Gal storeage tanks! Most of em never even got to sell the first gallon!

My sis always buys "evian" brand a bottle water - like it's some kinda status symbol to be able to afford bottled water with a pale blue label and it's somehow 'chic' to be seen drinkin it.

Ever the down to earth type - I felt obliged to supply her a Choice magazine article where they analysed most of the leading brands and it was the exact same stuff comming out her faucet at home complete with flouridation and chlorine etc etc from the water treatement plant.

I also felt compelled to point out that spelled backwards - Evian water was pretty close to Niaive, which she musta been to get suckered into buyin it in the first place!

Me - I just drink the rainwater that falls from the sky...thats the best water I've come across...

Cheers!

Default Drinking Water?!?

My boat is 15 years old, I always keep the tank clean as per Peg Hall's well-documented procedure, and we have always used the tank as a source of drinking water. I have a pretty good idea on the water quality on my boat. Bottled water? Not so sure.
