almost lost my boat. i had my boat anchored in 15 inches of water. i had been watching a t storm that starting building across the bay around 9pm at night. after watching for nearly 2 hrs, it finall reached us. didn;t think it was gonna be a bad one but boy was i wrong. first came the wind , then the lightning, then the rain. a buddy of mine had his boat anchored beside mine. it rained so hard we couldn;t see either boat for 15 mins. finally the rain let up enough to see one boat. where was the other boat?i got in my truck and shined the headlights across the water and found my boat beating the bank. i waded to the boat in the lightning and wind and rain and retreived the boat back to where it was and re anchored it. luckily the only damage was a chip or two on the keel. my mistake was having the boat tied to 2 cinder blocks that had been buried in the bottom since last year. i had no idea that they would pull up but they did. the winds from this storm were reported to be around 55 to 60 mph that night on the 11pm news. lesson learned. dont use blocks in a strong squall t storm. other than that they work fine. |
