Random Quote: Boats......If it isn't one thing, it's another.
Put the boat in the boat trader on Monday, sold it on Wednesday and got more than I paid for it. As I was showing the boat on Norman, got pulled over by the same wildlife officer twice for safety checks within 2 hours of each other (on a friggin Wednesday evening). WTF! Passed each time and the only thing to drink on the boat was bottled water. This is on the borderline of harrassment. Glad I didn't have an 8 rod spread behind the boat. Just because I put the boat in the water doesn't imply an invitation to interrupt me at the law enforcement's leisure, or does it.....
I'm going to be burning up the interstate on Saturday looking for another boat. Looking to get a Seapro 206CC with a 200 OX66 or 200 Optimax. Any ideas what price would be considered a good deal on this boat with either motor? I know pricing, I just don't know GOOD pricing.
Anyways, it feels good to have the constraint of selling a boat before I buy a boat out of the way. Dealers didn't seem to want to trade on an 9 year old boat. Only constraint now is getting the dealer's heart right. We'll see what happens.
CONGRATULATIONS! sounds like an easy deal.
I know how you feel about the wildlife guys. We have a camp across the bayou from a WMA. it is not uncommon to get checked twice a day two days in a row by THE SAME guy who is set up AT THE SAME LAUNCH that we put in at.
This guy has even stopped and had lunch with us at the camp!!! go figure.
Glad someone is getting a new boat. Been real happy with my little 195 FS seapro. Lot's of boat for the funds IMO
You should let me know when you are going to be out on your boat, I will coordinate, the will leave you alone for they will be busy checking me, I have been checked 7 times this year alone. I would be happy to run blocker for you...

movie check..."doctor, doctor, doctor, doctor, doctor, doctor....glad I'm not sick..."
Did you have girls in bikinis in your boat? In Chs, if you have that..you are just looking to be stopped.
I got stopped by teh same guy 3 times in 4 days. I asked if there was a stamp I could get or something to kep from wasting both our time. He didn't find it amusing.
if you were on norman, I would say that figures, too many morons on that lake, most of them should probably be ticketed for something or another, for being stupid if nothing else. I had the same thing happen to me memorial day weekend on lake murray, same office twice in one day, and then again the next morning. kinda agrivating, but I was legal.
For you guys that have gotten stopped or get stopped alot- do you have the Coast Guard Auxiliary or Power Squadron safety stickers on your boat? I've been told by both organizations that being stopped for safety checks is alot less likely and when it does happen will be alot faster if these stickers are on the boat and current. Any truth to that?
I've been trying to get one, the timing just hasn't been right for an inspection yet. I've heard the same thing from several DNR officers, as well as one coasty.
Cant vouch for any other states other than NC but Ive had the stickers on my boat for several years (courtesy of OverCurrent) and havent been stopped for a safety check in years. I have been approached for licenses, but the safety check was not done. I personally think it helps and I display the sticker very prominently
The first time I got pulled last night I had just passed the officer while he was inspecting a Grady. When he got done with that guy, he came after me. When he got done with me he pulled over the pontoon that just passed me. When he got done with the pontoon he pulled the Regal over in front of him. Me and the guy that bought the boat couldn't believe it. Seemed like everyone was getting pulled. I dropped the buyer off at the ramp, drove the boat back to my house so that the buyer could get the trailer. My neighbor pulls up to his dock in his boat and he yells out "Tim you get pulled? Yea, Did you? Yea, me too." This past weekend there were 40 law enforcement boats on Norman. A friend got pulled 4 times in 10 minutes by 4 different officers while he was at dle speed.
The last time I got pulled last night was within 100 feet of the boat ramp. Law enforcement has to be using the safety check to look for something else... Both times I got pulled the officer wouldn't use his bumpers and got pi$$ed when I reached over to keep his boat from colliding with mine while I have a potential buyer on the boat. Needless to say, the safety check did not commence until I got my bumpers over the side. I paid for my boat and I guess I help pay for his too.

Now that would piss me off to no end.* Most of the time when I get checked it is from a 10ft distance or so, and they just ask for me to hold up my equipment, but if they pull along side the fenders are going to go out, I'm not going to spend hours scrubbing scuff marks off my hull because they are lazy and impatient.
I am going to chime in on the price for you and take a guess.....I have the 220CC Sea Pro w/ a 225 Evinrude. I would guess.......25,000-30,000 depending on what you want. I paid 32,000 for mine and this is what I got.......t-top, electronics box, stereo cd, vhf, gps/fishfinder, porta pottie, bow cushion, leaning post, built in tackle box and a wesco tandem axle galvanized trailer....don't know how good of a deal I got, but that's what I paid.
whrsdddy- with all that equipment, sounds like a good deal. I want basically the same setup as you minus 25 HP, 1.6' LOA, and 3" beam. I also read in one of these threads somebody bought the 206 with a F225 for 27.9K OTD. Tag on the electronics and trolling motor and your up near 32K. We'll see how eager the dealers are to move some product. Thanks.

Welcome to the our new reality, Homeland Security money! My take: Law enforcement agencies can't spend it fast enough, and when they do, they have to show that are actually using the money for its intended purposes. So they can get more money I presume.
There's more law enforcement presence in the water than there is on land here in the Tampa Bay area. My guess is about 10 boats on the water for every law enforcement boat, at any time. During the winding hours of Gasparrilla events, there was 50/50! If you played loud music, busted.
Plus too many agencies:
US Coast Guard (It has too be extremely hot inside those Honda powered Alum/Foam skiffs)
Florida Wildlife Commision
State Park Police
City Police
County Sheriff
Border Patrol
Customs
Personally, I have no problem with law enforcement. Is the pre-emptive approach that some agencies are taking towards us boaters that troubles me. Someone should build floating Krispy-Kremes or Dunkin' Doughnuts, please.
Maybe the guy is just bored and wants some company. Can you imagine a job sitting in a boat all day long, day after day, and not talking to anyone?
Maybe he is one of those employees that all employers say they are looking for and hard to come by. Someone who when given a job to do is, by god, going to do it. Anything wrong with that?
We pay their salaries. Are we OK with them not doing the job they are given?

There's the rub. Cant satisfy the citizenry.* *

Unfortunately I’m afraid it’s a sign of the times. As we all cower at the thought of terrorist activity we think that giving the authorities more power will keep us safe. I think we all know better. The terrorists are already here; they’re not coming by boat, plane or train hell they live next door, they live down the street. I tend to be a realist in my thinking process and I personally don’t think there is a damned thing we can do to prevent another attack. It’s only a matter of time, opportunity and target…
