There is no need to shout EDF--we can hear you just fine. Ed's has been discussed at length on this board. A search should provide you with plenty of useful information.

I believe EDF bought and PAID for a new 4 stroke motor from Eds Marine and they have stalled for almost a week shipping it to him, up to his marina. The problem has been , that they accepted his money up front, said it was ok to ship it to him as he requested, promised they would do so within 24 hours, but then called back with excuses as to why they havent done it. I would be pissed if I paid someone that much money with an agreement on when and where it was going to be shipped, and then AFTER they had my money, they hesitated.......

A week is far to long to wait for someone to ship , an engine thats in-stock, and paid for to a customer

They have a membership to this board and normally respond to threads about them, and will probably respond to Monsta's comments. Peoples reactions to Ed's seem to be all over the board. Do some research here. That company has been discussed at great length I believe.

I will say this for twin rotating 200 Yama HPDI's EDs beat everyones prices by at leat $4500.00!!!

That to me is worth a week but it does not give them the right to take $20,000.00 and not ship a product that is paid for 7 days after the promise!!!

BAZ....

I've heard a lotta good stuff re Ed's, but it bothers me that they require "payment in full" PRIOR to delivery...a healthy deposit is certainly expected, with balance paid ON DELIVERY makes sense, but if Ed's or anybody else requires all their money BEFORE I get my goods, they can reqire it of someone else...it'll never happen here...the moment you give anybody all the money prior the receiving goods or services, you just put them in the driver's seat...and 95% of 'em will drive right OVER you...I don't give 'em the opportunity...

in my line of work, all items must be paid for in FULL prior to going on a truck.* when you are shipping something hundreds of miles away, collecting unpaid debts is difficult at best.* We require 50% down on custom orders, and the remainder at the time of shipment.* Any other way and the seller will get screwed royally in many cases.* The only exception we make to this is for a select group of customers who we set up accounts with.*

I must be missing something or I have gotten a good deal. I priced a 250 ETEC on Ed's website and the price was $15,299.00. It is my understanding that this is for motor only (no prop or wiring). I made a deal with a local dealer for a 250 installed with new wiring, oil tank, and stainless prop for $16,200.00 total. I will be using the existing binacle and cables. I can trade props if I need to. This seems like a better deal than buying from Ed's. I have inquired to several people who have bought etecs and no one wants to say what they paid. Several have given me a link to Ed's and said that Ed's was the best deal going. I do have a four week wait. Am I missing something (not an uncommon occurance) ? I may as well find out now as realize it in a month or two.

That sounds like a great deal especially considering you had to pay sales tax.

Autobaun, I could probably live with paying in full before it goes on the truck, but lots of companies(people) will screw around forever if they've got ALL your money prior to filling the order...hell, once it's on the truck, it's outta buyer's/seller's hands anyway...I certainly see your side, but I'm not gonna "pay in full" at the time of the order, unless I got a track record w/ this company and they are KNOWN to ship on day of order...so I guess it's a case by case basis...

I think Ed's is GREAT!!!

And I never bought from them...

I used their posted pricing to get a deal from my local dealer. It was a useful negotiating tool. The dealer first quoted me $2,700 more (until I pulled out Ed's pricing). Got the deal that I wanted without having to cross the country to get it.

Thanks again, Ed!

NOPE........Money was wired. I think they are probably a good company, and they did ship this morning , I guess, but still to wait an entire week is just plain wrong!! I hope for EDF they shipped the EXACT product he ordered.

As for paying up front,as a customer, I dont have a problem with doing that, because thats how I handle it with my own company. I require the same thing, especially on bigger orders, BUT, I make sure I get it out the door as promised, no excuses.

H2OCOP, you have figured out the best use for Eds. I live in the area he is located and to much smoke for there not to be fire, the word on local boards is buying from Ed's is OK, may get jerked some waiting for delivery, but don't get any service work done there. Prices are generally very good.

to give them the benifit of the doubt, lining up truck shipments isn't exactly childs play, especially on items that require special care. This is even more true when shipping outside of the area that you typically send shipments. many times special arangement have to be made for multiple carriers to cross dock shipments in order to get them to their destination. This isn't a big deal when shipping an entire truck load of material, but for single pallets and containers it can be a real pain.

Thats fine, and I AGREE, but TELL the customer that!! To simply give foolish excuses, or worse, say it will ship the next day, knowing that it wont , is just bad stuff.......

I bout a Jon Boat from Ed's at the end of February to fish for stripers in the river. I dealt with Lisa in sales. I called her on Thursday, told her what I wanted, and wired 10% on Friday at 2 PM. Picked the boat up Saturday around lunch. Seamless deal. No BS to deal with, and had exactly what I wanted when I got there. They did try to screw me out of the fuel line, but they threw it in as well. When dealing with them, just talk everything out, and have it written into the quote. At closing time, I was still in the office signing papers, and they broke out the cold beer! When I get ready to buy another boat I will definitely talk to Lisa @ Ed's first. I called the local marina and the salesperson told me that I could absolutely not buy that boat @ motor for that price that Ed's had it for.

I have already appoligized to Ed for the delay. He sent us the wire late on Monday the 25th. The paperwork was processed and give to me on the 26th. I worked on it that day but did not finish. I had to take off wednesday to be with my 5 year old in the hospital as she was getting her tonsals taken out. I finished up the transaction first thing thursday morning. The process would have been 1 day faster if I did not have to take off. We are still talking about the whole transaction taking 2-3 days depending on if you start counting on monday or tuesday.
