Default C-Hawk Boats

Hi,
I'm new to the board and I have a question. I'm interested in C-hawk boats, but I read they were out of business. I noticed that they are back(at least thier web site is). Does anybody know what is going on?
Thanks.
Doug

Welcome to THT Doug. There should be a few threads in the boating forum and some in the pics thread aswell. I currently have the 25' standard cabin and previously owned the 18'CC. The staff at Custom Boatworks (CHawk) has been fine to deal with, whenever I had any technical questions about the boat they would contact me back with an answer. Any specific questions?

I have heard a lot of nice things about C-Hawk. tough no frills boats. I think they are out of business.

Thanks for the clarification. I own a c Hawk 25 Standard Cabin and am looking to upgrade to a 29. I really like the boat and was dismayed when I heard they went out of business. I guess they had a short term Web related problem that resulted in the rumor.

dschmidt,

There are several C-Hawk 29's in the Holden Beach to Southport area of North Carolina. I think most are either Volvo or Yanmar diesels. I know one of the owners and he really likes his. They get tremendous mileage/range with the diesel. Lots of shade under the extended cover and a huge cockpit. I couldn't tell you about the ride but they regularly go 70 miles offshore so it can't be all that bad. There is one for sale in the Southport, NC area but it has commercial numbers on the side so it probably had tons of use and I think that one has outboards. Do a search on boattrader or yachtworld.com.

Good luck!

They are tough boats and take great abuse (they were originally used for commercial boats). They are still in business, however they did discontinue their 16' model.

I have been trying to find used CHawks, Parkers, and Steigers in the 23 - 25 range near me. They are not plentiful

Ask this guy. He is a NJ dealer. Some info on his website. He will point you the right way. Watch the ETEC commercials while you're there. http://barnaclebillsmarinesupply.com/contactus.html

Talked today with the folks that are moving C-Hawk boats to High Point, NC, the former Hatteras factory. Says they will discontinue some of the hulls.

Looked at the 18 footer. Plain, open, adequate storage, looks clean. Should be easy to fish from and to haul at about 3000 lbs rigged & with trailer. Looks like a good boat for the Pamlico and the inland lakes in NC.

Can anyone that has run the 18 footer comment?

Thanks

At the 2010 boat show in Virginia Beach, there was a new C-Hawk skiff on display. I was told that C-Hawk has reopened under new management. I understand that there is a lot of wood in their construction and they are prone to rot problems; however, I like the general design of their boats. The following ad looks tempting.

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/1607337670.html

1989- 24' C-Hawk w/ Cabin - $18000 (Williamsburg)

1989- 24 C-HAWK WITH CABIN, + a 2,000 225 HP, EFI Mercury OB, 350 hrs on motor, excellent condition, $18,000 OBRO; Extras include a GPS, Probe Interface Depth Finder, stereo, 2-way radio & (9) rod holders. Does not have trailer. Please feel free to email with any other questions you may have or you may call Bobby directly @ (757) 229-4813

Hello Guys.C-hawk is open under the Custom Fiberglass products banner. We also own Mitzi Skiffs. We build both boats in our Bailey NC plant, the long time home of C-Hawk.We still build the 16 and it was in the Virginia boat show. The 18 is in the Raleigh NC boat show this weekend.Yes we still use wood just like the other brands that were mention but it has a lifetime warranty against decay. The C-Hawk website isn't up yet but you can reach me at 252-235-2461.Thank you for all your support and lets put C-Hawk and Mitzi Skiffs back on top.

Hopefully they have John back out there by now. He ran the place for a short time before they shut the doors. He was the only reason the C Hawk name was decent again. Anyhow If he's back out there it's safe to buy a C Hawk again. I know we up here have been waiting to see if he was coming back but no word. Looking at the Parkers as of now. Redskins rule

I sell the new 2012 C-Hawk Boats 16ft to 26ft all custom. I have a factory direct line to them so I sell them at raw cost. I have center consoles as well as cabins. Just picked up a 20' Center Console yesterday. They are under new ownership and worked out all the problems. If anyone is interested in buying the new models, please do not hesitate to contact me.
