Default Albin 26 Center console w/ 315 Yanmar

I was reading the Saltwater Sportsman last night and saw the ad for this new boat.

Looks pretty nice, has anyone had a chance to sea trial one? How is the console layout, and engine access?

It looks like a sweet rig, but I would think they would sell more if they found a place to put a head on that thing.

I can hear my wife now:

"How much for that thing? And it doesn't have a place for me to pee? Think again!"

That's what that transom door is for. Just tell her to hang it out through the back door..... Similar problem on the panga but I don't have a transom door...

I can see the pictures.

Yes, it's the Cape Cod Marine 26, now being built at Albin's factory in Rhode Island.

Arlon, LOL

My wife will only go on the boat when it's warm enough to go over the side anyway...

But has anyone punched the throttles open on one of these babies....?

Is it just me, or does $90K sound like a really good price for that boat w/ a yanmar, t-top, outriggers and more?

Well it's not comparing apples to apples but you can get a Carolina 25 rigged out with a pretty good electronics package for the same money. I bet that center really scoots with that 315 and probably gets some incredible fuel milage though.

If you look at the bow entry it looks suspiciously like they popped a plug off a SeaCraft hull.

Sounds like a pretty good price to me I am looking for a similar boat but used. If I were to own one I like the green one setup with eveything on the tan one except throw away the dome and throw a 6kw open array up top.

I think we will be seeing more of these rigs (CC/diesel). The cost of the twin OB's needed to match this diesel's performance makes the diesel choice competetive. The fuel economy advantage is huge but diesel maintenance costs need to be considered.

The only thing I don't like is the loss of storage and/or decent head on a 26 footer.

I'm betting they offer a little cuddy cabin and head very shortly.

BTW, Fred Peters, Albin's President, told me he thought his best ever ad was in about 1978, when we had the Arab fuel embargo. He ran an ad for their 27 aft cabin that was "Cruise Through a Crisis". Looks like he's reserected that ad.

Wish we had that boat when I was selling them.

Jeff,

So - are you getting rid of the JON BOAT???

Don't say, "The SCOUT!" - ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the AGONY, say it isn't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Albin is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! (Get the LOT BALUUUUUUUUUUU hull! )

Are you gonna' be down THIS Saturday??? I'll probably go to Deltaville and will run up to see you, if you're back from the beach? Let me know on THIS thread - or PM me! Anxious to see how the "home" is coming along and if my "accidental diagnosis" on the "Yama choke" was the problem?

Regards,

Are there other air intakes besides the ones on the gunnels? They look kind of small for a 315hp diesel.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing based on ride and dryness?

It is certainly not a typical Albin.
