250 hpdi "in gear" reverse issue

If it is not one it is another. I fix my tank issue and now when I put my engine in reverse...sometimes it make a horrible grinding noise and the engines shakes horribly while in reverse or it will not do it at all. Is this a transmission issue or throttle issue. Engine under warranty and it would not do it for my mechanic, but it will do every once in a while. Did it on Sunday while leaving a resturant and everybody noticed. Only does sparatically, but when it happens it sounds horrible. Is this a throttle cable adjustment of what!!!! Please help

Had the same prob w/ 50 hp Yami. When put in reverse the motor would rev up but the gears would grind because the trans was not fully engaging. Turned out to be linkage inside the cowling needed to be adjusted. Happened two or three times during a full day of fishing but has not happened since (last fall).
