buy the one your wife likes best. that way if anything goes wrong, you can tell her it's her fault.

I have been impressed with E-Tech technology. Am considering repowering with one myself.
4 stroke outboards are just too darn heavy for my needs.
E-Techs equal fuel consumption and noise. Not real sure why they say there is not a "break-in period" or early service requirement. But I like it.
Have been reading other posts on this board, and have seen an equal number of good and bad about E-Techs as with any other new engine.
Received brochure and specs last month on E-Techs. Was very informative.

Have you seen the 4 page thread going on about 4 strokes? Everyone has an opinion but there are facts about each. A 2 stroke develops its power at lower rpm's as it fires on every stroke and is better suited for high rpm running. 2 strokes have less parts and weigh less. 4 strokes are quieter and MAY be better at running lean but generally cost more.
If I were buying an engine for my 23' WA I honestly don't know which I would go with. I would like to wait and see if the Etecs and newer big 4 strokes go for 5 years w/o any problems as my carb Merc 150 has.

can't beat the 7 year factory warranty on e-tech, they are great engines, I work for a BRP dealer and have been very impressed, my boss has a 34 wellcraft with trip. 250 Techs just came back froma week in the bahamas 1500 miles and not even a hickup!

60 HP Etec - 2 cylinder - 52.7 cubic inches displacement - 240 lbs.

60 HP Four Stroke Yamaha - Fuel Injected - 4 cylinder - 60.8 cubic inches displacement 237 lbs.

I am considering a smaller boat with a 60 HP also. I sure like the four cylinders of the Yamaha. I also like the Etec. Would be a hard decision right now.
