New Yamaha F150 vs SHO150

I would like to know the differences between the new Yamaha in line F150 and the Yamaha SHO150. Trying to decide which engine to put on new 21 ft. bay boat. I know the SHO has better hole shot torques but there are other differences I would like to understand better. Thanks

Only comes in a 20" shaft size

89 minmal octane f150 use less octane

sho 150 has a bigger altenator 50 amp

You can go t the yamaha website and look at the soecs and compare both motors to each other.

I think the SHO is directed towards Bass fishing boats, not a 21' bay boat

I got the F150 last week, its on my 21' Mako. I like it, pushes my Mako well!

SHO is great for bay boats also. Pathfinder is putting them on new boats as is hewes on their flats boats. Has a different lower unit that I'm told is more efficient thru the water. That being said I have a F150 and love it but I would put the SHO if I repowered. I believe the SHO is slightly heavier.

Use the search if you didn't already. It's been discussed. Or try Yamaha's website

It has low water pickup and nose cose

Whats the price difference? Also what bayboat is it going on?The 150 is probably one of the best motors Yamaha has ever made and very powerful for its size.Great motor.Dont think the SHO has been out to long.

I guess I should be more specific. What I would really like to see is the difference performance wise between the f150 and the SHO 150 on the same boat. The SHO has larger displacement so what does that translate into for wot, mpg, torque. I have never seen this comparison. I have seen the items mentioned above.

The SHO 150 is based on the new F200 block not the standard F150, slightly larger displacement and higher compression ratio

Only comparable reports I've been able to find are these:

Performance looks almost identical. Not sure whether the $1000+ up charge for the SHO is worth it although its a better looking motor and you get low water pickups in the gearcase.
