Default Salt Away

My question is anyone using this product and if so what do they think of it. A friend of mine said that all you do is hook it up to a hose and spray the boat down with it then it down with fresh water. He said there is no need to use a brush or anything like that. He said this stuff will wash the salt right off the boat as well as everything else salt get on to. Could anyone who is or had used this give some input...Thanks

Mark

I flush my brakes, engine and hose down my boat with it. It may or may not work, but I sure feel better for doing it.

I got turned on to the stuff and it's competition Salt X, about 5-6 years ago. Will not go without it. It is very easy to prove it works. If you have salt spray on your windshield, spray one side with soap/water and rinse. Spray the other half with either Salt Away or Salt X. Let both sides air dry. The soap/water side will still have a film/residue, and the Salt A/X side will be clear.

I used to change thermostats every other year when I changed the water pump. They would be pretty well covered with "deposits" and sticky. After I stared using the Salt A/X. the next time I pulled the thermostats they looked like nearly new, and the water jacket passages were amazingly clean. Made me a very firm believer.

One 4 oz fill of the mixing unit lets me back flush the engine for about 2 minutes after I see the foam appears on the foot. Give the entire 23' WAC, trailer, wheels, brakes, rods reels and gear a good spray and I'm done, unless there is scum, blood, or "stuff" that needs a little elbow grease.

The cost per gallon seems high, but the cost per outing is only a couple of bucks, and if you conceder the rest of the trip expenses it is minor.

i am using salt away regularly to flush my mercury optimax 150.
Great stuff.
It cleans even encrusted salt deposits.
Need to be careful to keep flushing with plain fresh water after using the product.
I would recommend it to anyone with a new or old engine for flushing, as for washing down the boat and your gear, soap is my choice. One exception: your fishing reels , where it would help to add some saltaway .

hre's how I use it - under the cowls....

1. go buy some “saltaway” at boat US or wherever….
2. get a home depot spray bottle and mix up a 70-30 mix of saltaway and water
3. take off your cowl and spray the whole engine – except the extreme top where the belt is..
4. take a hose and lightly mist the engine clean
5. let it dry in the hot sun if possible
6. cover the whole engine (except the top) with your favorite corrosion spray
