Default My deck lid latches are garbage

I have seen threads regarding "What do you not like about your boat" and my answer would be plastic lid latches on the deck. Where can someone find a good selection of stainless steel chrome plated flush mounted lid latches. I have done numerous searches and have not come up with anything. Your help would be appreciated.

Gemlux.com

I think that's it. Gemlux is the place anyway. I replaced all my Contenders latches with the type Contender is using on the newer ones. Cost me like $500.00 to do it, but it was worth it. Gemlux has tons of different latches and they are super high quality.

Many options-

Perko T handle chromed bronze - used on many hi-end boats. In Stainless; Gemlux as mentioned. Orcas marine. Many more.

You can have a xmas in Sept on Ebay. I can tell you specific preferred sellers if you wish. Just search for "latch" "hatch dog" or brand names under ebaymotors / boats & watercraft / parts & accessories. There's a guy selling round flush Perko's in sets of 5. There are more hi-end ones in solid stainless there too. Save big $$

I know that I am dragging up an old thread. But, I felt that I had to share this.

Here is a copy of the email that I sent out to my friends that knew Grin, AKA Mike Martin.

Last week I broke a latch on one of my deck hatches. The previous owner had installed Perko locking latches. They were made with plastic and chrome plated zimac (pot metal). The locks have not worked in years. I wanted to upgrade them to the good stainless steel latches like Mike had on his Contender. But, I can’t call him up and ask where he got them (he passed away in June 2010). So, I did the next best thing - Google. At the top of the page was a link to “The Hull Truth”. The thread was titled “My deck latches are garbage”. The originator wanted to replace his latches with higher quality ones. The first response was from “Grin” (Mike Martin’s screen name on all of the forums). He posted up the manufacture’s link and stated that he was happy with the ones he got.

It seems that Mike is still helping me with boat related issues. Tight lines brother...

I didn't look at the dates, but when I saw "Grin" in the second post, it brought a smile to my face. That's one of the shames about the FS crash and loss of the archives, lot's of good info was there that can't be reposted.
