Cosmetic repairs on cockpit non-skid...
I've got an '87 Grady in great shape but the floor of the cockpit has some pitting, small holes, and what appears to be splattered fiberglass. It's strictly cosmetic, but I'm anal and it looks like crap. Is there a paint that I could use to put a new layer on my cockpit floor that will make it look like new again?

About every three years I have had a good fibergalss guy repair all the little chips and cracks and anything I screwup on my boat and I have been suprised everytime at the way those guys can fix stuff so it is 100% undetectable. Once I had a glass guy paint some non skid on the gunnels and I was amazed it looked like the factory did it. I have the gritty non skid(Contender) which is easily repaired by these guys. But I also had a Hydrasports along time ago with the diamond cut type non skid, and that stuff looks like crap when repaired. It's tough to get done right, and I haven't seen anyone do it undetectable. Once you geta good glass guy, you will want him to fix every little thing you were afraid to have anyone touch before. Just make a list bebcause it is cheap to get a bunch of stuff fixed once the guy is there compared to getting just one little thing at a time done.

I have had mine in twice for diamond cut type non skid repair....they did a horrible job both times, it looks worse now than it did before the repair and my boat is a 2004.

We drag 2 and 3 thousand pound moorings across this surface, heavy shackles fall from 6-8 feet, and fishing gear including scallop drags and heavy groundfish gear are constantly dragged across this deck. To add insult to injury we daily wash down with a 1 1/2" saltwater line. When in operation mode which is nearly non-stop throughout the spring, summer and fall, maintenance of coatings is impossible. Durabakô has stood up to the abuse for the last 3 years.
It has a rubbery feel to it. Not hard like it look's.
