Default 36 Invincible Boats hull problems

Hi there,

Anyone out there seen an 36 Invincible CC with air voids in their steps in their hull?

Surveyor says it looks like voids were always there. Factory said I had to wait for 10 weeks for repair and no warranty to a second owner. 250 hours on the boat.

If you had the same problem did you grind and epoxy all the steps in the hull or just the problem area?

Any advice? See photos. Thanks.

What year is the boat? That's a big manufacture flaw.... I would talk to anyone i needed to to get invincible to cover that. I don't think you would have to raise too much hell but i'd let them know you are willing to.

You are right, it looks like it may have had some repairs in the past but it's hard to tell on such a close up.

Looks like the strake, not the step. Looks like it runs the whole length.

Agree, from the looks of the pic, strake.
Steps are supposed to have air in them....

Agreed. The textured wall in my office is smoother than that.

I dont care how old the boat is. That is a major factory flaw. I wonder what else is flawed in that hull? That is more then an air void in a strake. That is piss poor workmanship.

36 Invincible Boat is 2008 with 250 hours on it. It has (or should I say had) high end white bottom ablative paint on it.

Email a link to this thread, along with your phone number, to Invincible.

Neither demand nor ask that they do anything for you.

Wait for your phone to ring.

The bashers on here are licking their chops; posting a picture like that on THT is like waving fresh meat at a bunch of hyenas. It usually gathers momentum at about page 3. Be prepared to stand your ground.

Voids are common out of the mold, but that looks more like a cavern. Also, it's not in the gelcoat, but appears to be between the roving and the main glass lams. That is, it looks like the first layer of glass (the roving) was rolled completely into the strake, but the ensuing layers were not.

Further aft and outboard it appears to have delamination (looks wavy) though that could just be the light.

16 pages. Where's my popcorn...

advice? ask them nicely again to fix it in writing. if not, unleash hell!

can anyone confirm that the limited warranty does not cover second and subsequent owners (like contender)?

Yup, licking their chops alright. I especially like experts who can't even tell that the bottom is painted vs "funny looking glass." On the other hand, perhaps it is a highly ablative paint defense against aggressive marine organisms - just shed the first layer of glass to get rid of them.
