Default Suggestions for removable open array radar mount....

I'm planning on installing an open array radar antenna on my World Cat 270TE. Based upon my experience with my previous 266SF I assume that the open array antenna will be too tall to comfortably trailer the boat (worried about losing a $4500 antenna on a tree limb ). Cat hulls tend to sit noticeably higher on a trailer than a monohull. On my previous World Cat I had some problems with overhanging limbs with the 4kw 24" radome antenna. The radome was mounted directly on top of the T-Top and I measured the radome to be 12'8" above the ground while the boat was sitting on the trailer.

Has anyone mounted an open array antenna with a custom mounting assembly/bracket that would allow the antenna to be 'flipped' forward for trailering purposes?

Any suggestions/pictures would be welcome.

Thanks

Take a look.* This is on a 32' Boston Whaler with an open array.* We went with the flip down mount from Seaview so that it could be removed*with four fasteners from the top easily, for trailering.* You don't gain much room by just flipping it down.* Leave a lot of extra cable!*

Thanks for the info/photo. When I said "flipping" I was referring to flipping down all the way in front of the T-Top. I recall seeing a few boats that had a radar mount assembly on the T-Top such that the front legs attached to the front edge of the T-top in such a way that the rear legs could be disconnected and the whole thing could flip forward in front of (and below) the T-Top.

I'm looking for designs/photos/experience that I can provide to my marine fabricator.

Doug

I have a friend with a 57' Carver that had problems going under RR bridges in our area on the erie canal.
A good friend of mine owns a tool and die shop and he built an awesome mount for his radar. You just unscrew a knob and pull a pin and the whole assembly can be pulled backward(or forward) and lays down behind the arch.He doesn't have any photos on his site yet. But you can contact him and he'll custom build one.His name is Tom,tell him big Jim sent you.
