Random Quote: CAPTAIN...one SMART enough to drive a boat and STUPID enough to think it's important!
Just sold my F225's with 149 hours and put on a pair of F250's. All I can say is WOW!!! It is an absolute kick ass perfect match for the Reg 26!!! Have about 10 hours on th engines and the hole shot, throttle response and top end is amazing. Cruised back from Destin to Pensacola today with some following numbers.
58 mph WOT at 6000 rpms
48 mph at 29 GPH cruise.
6 adults, two large coolers, loaded with all kinds of crap from my wife, and 150 gallons of fuel.
Don't get me wrong. the F225's are nice, but the new F250's made me smile real big today!!!

I have a 2003 26fs with twin Yamaha 225's I think its a little sluggish can't seem to get the ass out and bring down the bow with out trim tabs. I also get my ass kicked in a quartering sea (3 /4 footers) can't see to get on plane bow bounces up and down. Did you have that problem? Every other condition I love the ride. I have considered change prop I am using 21's. Has anyone tried 19's or 4 blades on the 225's
Never been an issue here, but 3 to 4's in a quartering sea will get most foks sprayed wihout curtains. My new F250's feel like they want to jump out of the water at hole shot. The low, mid, and high end torque is night and day difference than the F225's.

Clover, Regulator went to a bigger tab in 05 14x18 as opposed to
12x16 and it makes a big difference in controlling the bow. You can
retrofit the bigger tabs on your boat just make sure they are placed
properly so they dont block the water intakes on your lower units
when in use. The 250s are a really great match for the 26!
I spoke with dealer today he said the 250's only got a few miles per hour more than the 225's based on your #'s he is wrong. I am going to drive and see for myself this week, I will also compare trim tabs. Thanks for the imput!

I'm experiencing the same issues that Clover is and I have the 225's. I just called and have ordered the 14 X 18 tabs. Sure hope that makes a difference. Love everything about the ride and the boat but it sure likes alot of tab.
Wish I had the $$ to repower to the 250's. Not much left over after buying and outfitting the boat. Maybe in a couple of years.
Thanks for the info on the larger tabs. Would have loved to of known that when I had the 225's. I will probably go ahead and check out the larger tabs. Guess I should call Regulator about what the proper positioning should be on the larger tabs. The 26 does respond to trim. I did run yesterday without tabs, but when trimming the motors up a bit she did want to porpoise. All in all, when figuring out the small adjustments needed in most conditions she will go where many boats in that class would never venture!

No offense Mayoki, but how BIG were these 6 adults? That seems extremely fast for that much weight in the boat! I was running twin 250 OX66's on my 26 and only saw 57 with just myself onboard.
Please don't take this wrong Mayoki, just sounds fast.
What props are you turning?
Enjoy your new set-up!

Six adults, I'm 220, Tom's 255, Joe's 185, the three ladies combined, just to be nice were 400 lds. One 70 quart cooler under the rear folding seat and the bench cooler full. 155 gallons of fuel and misc ditch bags etc. I am always conservative and would not have posted numbers unless they impressed me.

The 250s come from the factory with 14-7/8x21, and will turn up to
6100 RPM. If you put some 23s like the 250 OX-66s had you should
see a few more MPHs, but the boat will start to" squirrely" on you
at WOT.
Turning SWS 21's. I have also heard 23's might get me a little more mph. I have a friend who said he would loan me a pair of 23's to try out, so I might take him up on it. I'm very pleased with the 21's though. I only got 6100 with no tabs and about four bars on the trim indicator.

Thanks Blue, I am quite pleased now and hope these new F250's continue with extended reliability. Yamaha needs some positive results after the issues with the intro of the big HPDI's. My F225's were always rock solid and very good on my 26, but with the extra ponies and economy, I feel the F250's are a better match for the Reg 26 anyway. I hope they have another winner!
