Default Fulton Trailer Jack Failure?

Has anyone had their Fulton Trailer Jack fail. I have a brand new Loadmaster trailer and the jack failed after about 6 uses. The gears are completely stripped it seems when I try to lower the jack.

Has anyone had this problem? And how should I go about getting it replaced?

Thanks for your help!

I would call Loadmaster or go to the dealer you bought it from. i have never had one fail like that but I am sure they make a bad one every now and than.

sometimes there is a simple roll pin inside on most all trailer jacks that break or fall out. take it apart on the top end and check it out. although its rare for a new one to fail, this mostly happens with time.

I never had one do that either............did have one lock up because I didn't grease and clean the gear, but never strip. I agree with Kirk......talk to the guy that sold you the trailer or go directly to the OEM. Likely either a bad gear or an under-rated jack for your tongue weight.

Interesting....my new Loadmaster comes with a jack made by "Shelby" (the winch is made by Shelby too). I wonder if they switched manufacturers or use different jack/winches on different models of trailers that they make.

Just want to let everyone know that Loadmaster just called me back and said that they will send me a new one out today! All that I have to do in return is send back the old one in the box once I receive the new one today!

THANKS AGAIN LOADMASTER!!!

There was a duplicate thread to this one only a couple weeks ago, so you are not alone.

Kudos to LoadMaster for stepping up even though it is Fulton's fault. It is almost time for me to buy a new trailer so I will remember when the time comes, that LoadMaster stood behind their product.

I am now into my third year on a fulton XPD15L jack. I have had this type jack fail in the past due to corrosion. Three years ago I began flushing the inside of the jack with fresh water after every launch. I also support my trailer tongue on a block and take pressure off the jack when the boat is not in use. I lube the jack gears with trailer grease and shoot wd-40 between the tubes when i think of it. So far so good.

I used to go through swivel-type jacks like kleenex. Finally figured out that those swivel jacks end up getting dunked with every launch and retrieval, and because of the angle the salt water tends to really get inside the jack. I replaced it with a jack that stays vertical, and have never had a problem again - the gears stay up and out of the water all the time.

A search on Fulton reveals a very recent thread about their jacks.....here is the link.
