Default Scout Abaco

What can anybody tell me about the new Abaco's coming out? Understand from Scout newsletter they introducing new 34' in Feb 2006. Does anyone know the specs and is this the only the larger Abaco, seems a big leap from the 28? I know this is the right place to check with the Scout experts.

Thanks.

There will be a new 26' based on the 260 sportfish hull out soon as well as that 34. It would be nice to something else between the 28 and the 34, and I'm sure that it will happen. Just give them some time.

The specs of the 34'er are, they don't know yet. It's expected to do 50MPH with twin outboards (300's) which will be the first design complted. It will most likely be followed by a twin diesel version from what one of their sales rep's told me. The hull has been completed, they are currently designing the top end of it. From the pics it looks VERY instersting.

Just got the dets from the horse's mouth. Much bigger than I thought. Looks to be almost a full 10' bigger than the 28':

"We are still working out the details of the new 350 Abaco, but I have included below the basic specs for this model.

This is the only new Abaco larger than the 280 in planning stages.

LOA: 37’ – 11 ¼”
Beam: 11’ – 10”
Draft: 26 ½”
Deadrise At Transom: 22.0 degrees
Max HP: 700
Outboard Shaft Length: 30”
Fuel Capacity: 325
Weight w/ Twin Yamaha F250’s: Approx. 11,000 lbs.

Keep an eye out for literature to appear soon in our dealerships. We hope to introduce her at the 2006 Miami International Boat Show."

"11,000 lbs."...?

That can't be right.

The Grady White Express 360 weighs in @ 15,750# (w/2-4's). What's that Scout made of?

Nice try. Ain't gonna be no Verado's or optibombs, or Fichtibombs for that matter on a Scout. That was wishfull thinkin' on Merctibomb's part.

Too funny! If Scout has a problem keeping the transom above water w/Yamahas, wait 'till they try a couple of Verados

Yeah, when those mercs blow, they ussually blow the transom off the hull. That is one of the the reasons Scout will stay away from Merctibombs.

I find the "Max HP: 700" to be interesting. What is that, triple 233.3's? or is someone working on a 350?

I just found an unofficial photo of the new Scout 34. It's NOT 34' as we thought, it is 34", 34 inches off the water that is!!

Birdman's photo seems to confirm that they are considering the Verado Propulsion System. It's rumored to be very quiet & extremely fuel efficient.

That's why they fired him. After spending 8 years in a 2 year JR college marine design class, that is the best design that he could come up with. I think that he is scratching his head trying to figure out where to put the Parker brand sticker on that thing (when Scout blew him off, he tried to sell his new design to Parker, but they laughed too).

NEWS FLASH: SCOUT HQ

In order to save our valuable fossil fuels, Scout engineers have found a way to remove the last quart of fiberglass from their wildly popular "Blowfish 34". This move has been hailed by Tom Daschal and other leading Democrats as "patriotic".

In house design team test pilot Billy-Bob Wannamaker aka "Hoyt" (seen in photo) was overheard to say, "Well, at least this SOB has a deck above water level"

Un-named sources (actually some "passed over" FBI Democrats) were quoted as saying "Hoyt" has not been right ever since contracting a rare moldy toe gel disease called "soggy foot"
