1986 mercruiser 5.0 i just rebuilt it. motor fires but wont start. motor is cranking slow and connections on the battery get very hot. i think my stater is drawing to much current. it is a bad starter motor?
Timing isn't going to make it turn slow. You need to fully charge the batteries and put a meter on the cables and see what the starter is drawing. If you keep cranking without letting it set that will heat up the cables.
