Default Looking for small bay/river boat suggestions

Sometime in the future I would like to buy a small boat that would be suitable for fishing the bay on fairly calm days and would be ideal for the rivers and inlets and occasionally freshwater.
Here's the criteria/features I have in mind so far:
16'-17' V-hull
Preferably Fiberglass
Either center console or bow-rider type with driver and passenger seats.
40 - 75 hp outboard
Would like a four-stroke but will probably look for something used first and it may have a two stroke.
Would like something with storage for rods, tackle, anchor and lifejackets.

I've been thinking about a Privateer but would love to hear some other suggestions.

It might be hard to do but I'm trying to keep my purchase in the $5k range also.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

try using www.boattraderonline.com and when you do the search limit the size to 16-17 and the price to 5000 and see what kind of boats are returned. You could probably stretch the price range to 7000 figuring someone would be willing to take an offer.

To hold to the $5k target you might want to include aluminum boats too.

i also have a 1648 lowes big jon modified v aluminum powered by a 30hp evinrude that is a smart little boat. i use it for gigging and fishing inland creeks, around bridge structures, pilings, close to mouth of inlets, running it up in the marshes to catch bait, fiddler crabs, etc ,etc , you know, things i cannot do with the fiberglass boat. if you ding it, what the hell! 16ft, 4ft floor, 70 beam,21 inch sides. very popular jon boat, very stable boat. package price with center or side console, trailer, 30 horse engine, battery and fuel tank. around $ 6.300.00 a.k mcCALLUM CO FAYETTEVILLE N.C. 1-800-682-BOAT. a jon is probably the most versatile boat ever invented.they resale real quick!

Thanks for the info so far.
boattraderonline.com is a good suggestion.
I will also keep in mind the alum./lowe boat option if I can't seem to find what I need in fiberglass.

More suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Brian,

I sent you an email about the Privateer Bay Prowler I have for sale in Baltimore MD. Boat, motor, trailer package - with many more accessories than you listed. A turn key boat in very good condition!

You may want to look at some older 17 Aquasports or 17 Mako's should have no problem sticking to your budget.

VA_Fishnut

Look for a HighTide out of Georgetown SC. My father bought a 15 ft. with a 40 yah. 2stoke runs get and should be just a little above your target $.
