I am about to put a new motor on a 2003 24' Champion. The Yamaha 250 4 stroke look good. My dilemma is I could buy a new rig with a Yamaha 300 2 stroke for about a 4,000 more than it would cost to put 250 on a 03 boat. I am changing engines because I am having too much trouble with the 250 Yamaha I have now.
Would like some input
Thanks

Why would you even think of purchasing a 300 HDPI with all of the problems they have had. For resale & reliability go with the 4-Stroke.
It depends on how well the 250 pushed your boat. It it did a good job then stay with the 250, if you think you need more power go with the 300.*I would stay away from off brands* because parts are harder to find as well as service, and the resale is not there.

Afishinado - 5/18/2005 2:57 PM If you have to go 4 stroke go for the Verado.... AND What's the difference, burn oil or change oil? Still costs the same (or close)
Still costs the same eh? Once again your vast boating knowledge shines through like a beacon in the night. Have a great day and keep the laughs coming.
i would go with any of the 4 stroke 250's or the e-tec 250.they may have the 300 hpdi figuired out but i would let someone else test that water.good luck
