Default ??? 'good' boat cover

I am looking for a boat cover for a Striper 1851 WA (18'6")......I notice online that many are made of a poly/cotton blend..while others are strictly poly....I don't want to break the bank (i.e. Sunbrella material), and am not sure I need a 'trailerable' cover...just one to cover the boat in my yard....many are custom..some semi-custom....any suggestions on what has worked for you?...thanx

The best cover for your boat will be one made of Sunbrella. I have used the other fabrics and wasn't happy with them. The poly/cotton covers have cotton in them, and will shrink and eventually mildew and rot. The poly covers will keep out the rain, but don't breathe and may create mildew problems in your boat. Do an internet search and try to find a cover made for your style of boat made of Sunbrella. I found one company a year or so ago that had them in taupe color, but I forget their name. Maybe it was Coversdirect.com, or something like that. Other than that, go with a custom made cover. If you have upholstery in the boat, you want to protect it from the weather.

If you use a cheap poly cover, where ever it comes in contact with your gel coat it will cloud the surface. Or so the story goes. I'd vote for sunbrella also, it's probably what I would have if I didn't have a carport/metal cover

Bite the bullet and go Sunbrella. Also recommend you have one made, wish I had instead of ordering one from an internet co.
