RE: Where is the best place to buy small penn reel parts? Whatever you do, don't take reels to Penn for repairs. I took two reels to Penn last week for repairs. One reel was a 940 and other was a mag 970. I got a call two days later the reels were done and the cost was $78.00. More money than the reels were worth. Apparently, Penn now has a new policy that they charge $9 per reel to just look at them. After the $9 fee I was charged an hourly rate plus parts. In the past, Penn would call and give an estimate. No more. To make matter worse, the reels still don't work right. I was told by the customer service rep that the reels could not be completely fixed b/c the parts needed are no longer made. Gee thanks guys. I now paid $78 for no reason. I will never buy another Penn product simply because of the way I was treated. I am not saying that Penn reels are not good, but I don' t like the way the "new Penn" is treating their customers.
