I never considered a catamaran before and thought that I was dead set on a black lab skiff but have recently become interested in Twin Vees. Most of the information and reviews that I see are for the larger models. I would be interested the 20' model. Does the 20' tv perform as well as its 22 and 26 big brothers? Of course its smaller but everything jumps from the 19 to the 22 or 26 with very few 20s out there. Is there something "unappealing" about the 20 that causes it to be lost in the line up?

Bsmitt,
I am a dealer in the keys for TV. I would not recommend the 20. You can't power it properly with 4 strokes to make it a good performing boat. I wouldn't be surprised if they discountue it soon. Go with the 19 or 22. both are fantastic boats. If you can afford it the 22 is the way to go plus you have the safety of two motors. If you have any more questions or need to know the dealer closest to you pls feel free to call me @305-745-8951.
there is a 22 center on the boattrader.com for 34K its a leftover 04 if thats in your budjet. I agree with bolton if you get a 20 go with 2stroke light weight 70hp twins
It depends on what you are looking for, the 20 uses 70hp 2-strokes, cruises around 20 mph, is economical to run and has twins for safety, great ride, if you don't mind going slower, it's a great boat, roomy and stable, the 19 is faster, not quite the soft ride but close, also roomy and stable, 115 4-stroke gets 4-5 mpg.....cruises at 24-26 mph, the 22 is the small hull as the 26, 4 ft shorter, goes offshore well, lots more boat...I wouldn't have any heartburn owning/operating any of them...ride them, then decide...Mick
Unlike some of the other responses, I would strongly suggest you consider the 20'. I had one for a couple of years and found it to do extremely well for a 20' cc. In terms of ride, there will be absolutely no comparison to a 20' aluminum center console.
If you power the 20 with twin 60 hp Yamahas or Mercs, you should be able to cruise at 28 mph with a WOT of approximately 35. Those stats are without a t-top and with two passengers and a full tank of gas.
I'm sure the aluminum boats are well-madel, but I've heard that they're not the smoothest riding boats.
Daves comments are right on . It is more a speed issue to me. and the other is it is somewhat sensitive to the weight of the 4stokes above 60hp That was the reason to go with 2strokes The ride is very good
tight lines
look at the tldi tohatsu/nissan engines. Looks like a good alternative to a 4 stroke. Lot lighter and same or better economy.. Just a thought for a way to have your cake and eat it too...
Guys, Don't get me wrong the 20 IS a nice boat but you do have to power it with 2 strokes if you want hp over 50 per side. Or if your not into speed then go woth the 50's and take extra beer for the ride. I am just a speed junkie I guess!!!!
I was getting very excited about my new boat and then I proposed to my future wife. So between engagement ring, wedding, house, etc. I am back to wishin' for about a year. If the itch gets bad enough I may sell my motocycle and boat to get a new fishing machine.
I was looking at the skiff because I fish (marsh, inshore and near offshore), scuba dive, duck hunt, shrimp etc. all out of the same boat and the black lab skiff looks like a good compromise and very durable.
My biggest concern with the 22' would be the size. I do not want to buy a boat that will not allow me to fish my favorite spots because it is to big.
I would love to see more performance numbers from Twin Vee with the Direct Injection engines instead of the 4 strokes. Is there any reason TV only has 4 stroke numbers?
Bsmit,
I like your sig too! The eallier 20's had a single but they stopped it a few years back. The 19 is a fantastic boat. There aren't too many used ones on the market. You can figure why. People love them!! What is it powered with and what year?
Yep,
Saw it at the dealer meeting. Pretty nice. I wouldn't have one being down here in the Keys but I can see how it would be nice up north. The 32 and 36 Pilot in real nice. Fully enclosed.
19' twin vee baycat catamaran--new 115 yamaha; troll motor; gps; depth finder; bimini; side rails; anchor; trailor; boat like new condition; perfect for lafitte or lake ponchar
this was the advertisement. I did not get to look at it this weekend, my fiances wedding shower was saturday and my inlaws came in form washington state and pennsylvania. I thought it would be in poor taste to leave to go see a boat. the year was not mentioned and my fishing buddies were fishing so I could not get a second set of eyes to go with me. with the wedding in two weeks, I may just miss this one because of bad timing.
thanks for the support on the sig. there is no way those jokers in D.C. or Baton Rouge can spend my money more responsibily than I can.

Sign. great however " I was getting very excited about my new boat and then I proposed to my future wife" is and will be priceless in the future of your marriage---- good luck----Boat Marriage
Eyehooker
All my friends agree that I should have bought the boat before I got engaged. The theory went that it would be mine and that I would have it before we got married. But she likes fishing as much as I do and she scuba dives so I think she is as excited about a new boat as I am.
Am I wrong? I try to encourage the new boat purchase by running my bateau wot so it beats the hell out of her and bring as much crap as possible so the boat looks really small. Am I approaching this wrong? Just looking for a little advice from those who may have already fought this battle.
P.S. I really hope she does not look at this site!
