Default Ordered a new boat

About five weeks ago I ordered a 2005 Sea Hunt Escape 220 with an E-Tec 225. Unfortunately the boat came in to the dealer with no engine to be mounted. About the same time I ordered the boat there was a thread here about the E-Tec 225s being backordered. Appears the thread was correct. Does anybody have any information about the expected delivery date for these engines and, since I don't have the boat to use yet, does anybody have any performance figures for this boat?

Sorry about your motor problem. I know how it is to have to wait as I have been doing the same thing. My boat should be here by the middle of next week.
Hope you get your motors soon...

I could have said "pulled the trigger" but I saw the thread last night where one of you told everybody that the phrase was improper english and decided not to use it. I'm really just wondering if anyone has any idea about delivery dates on the motor. The boat is sitting at Chatlee's waiting for a motor so they can get my money and see me out the door. I'm sure they are anxious as well. And you are right, anticipation is almost as much fun as getting the product.

I ordered a 250 E-Tec in mid February for a late March delivery / mid April install. I was told to order it before the Miami Show or I would end up way down the list. It's still not here and I'm keep being told any day now. I installed all the cables, harnesses and gages myself so installation should take a day.

I bought the engine from a very respected mechanic / dealer and don't think he has much control over Evinrude. The motors are coming in now but the dolphin run is about over. I'm not real happy about the situation and just hope the engine lives up to the hype.

I mostly bought it on the basis of the seven year warranty and the reputation of the mechanic. Hopefully any day now......

Well Here ya go, some THT Love;

Why didn't you buy a 4 stroke, you must be a real dummy!

Boat don't have enough deadrise, gonna pound you to death in light chop! My Sea Pro will do 66mph in 6-8's all day long, never a get wet.

I know a guy that knows a guy that heard of a brand new one absolutely full of stress cracks, I would never buy one.

225 is not near enough power for that boat. WOT will only be 66.3 mph IMHO. A 250 Suzuki is the right power NOTHING Less

Sure as heck hope you have atleast a one ton dually w/supercharged & turbo charged diesel

Did you look at the Twin-Vee, fit'n'finish is much better.

Enough Love yet? I'm sure some of our other peers will have a generous heart here as well, c'mon guys!

Seriously, Congrats, best of luck with it! Hopefully the wait won't be too long! Keep us abreast!

If you haven't already done so, I would recommend that you call Bombardier customer service and see if you can get an answer. Last year, after a dealership improperly handled the submission of the warranty paper work for a new 150 Ficht I purchased from them, I contacted Bombardier customer service and they were quite helpful in getting everything straightened out.

Perhaps they can help give you a clearer picture of the timeframe for your motor delivery.

Now Jalichty –

If you would have got the Seaswirl 2101 DC instead of the Sea Hunt (as you know you should have) you would be on the water by now (only kidding of course). Congratulations on the new boat. The anticipation I imagine is killing you. Hang in there it will be worth it.

You mean you didn't buy a Contender? For only 30k more you could have owned a real boat. Just kidding, congrats on the new boat and enjoy. From the reports so far your motor is probably worth the wait.

I had to wait on my Evinrude last August, but sounds like they are really backed up. I waited forever and I just kept harassing them until I drove em nuts....finally, I call the dealer and ask if for the millioneth time "is it ready" he says yes and I have some really good news....."they made a mistake and put the wrong motor on it and instead of the 200 like you wanted they put a 225 on it. I said, "as long as I don't have to pay more money I don't care"...he said, "their not going to take it off and you can have it for the same price"....could it have been my constant harassment...who knows. I don't know how long it's gonna take, but I would be prepared to wait . Good luck to ya

Thanks for the love, guys. I "know" that for only a little bit more I could have bought a Contender but I would have had to put a black anchor on it and I preferred the white one. As far as a tow vehicle, I have a 4/4 ton GMC Duramax Crewcab shortbed with the Allison transmission so I think I have almost enough capacity to tow this boat, when I get to pick it up. Talked to BRP today, as Brad suggested, and was told the backorder situation should be cleared up around first week in June. By the way, is that 63 mph at sea level? I boat at 5,000' and probably will only be able to get 60 or so, which will be plenty fast enough.

Serious question. Do I need to have anything special done with the engine since it will be operating at altitude, 5,000' to 9,000'?

JTM, how do you like your 2101? I priced one here in town and the dealer here was about $9,000 prouder of the SeaSwirl 2101 than a somewhat comparable Escape and he knew what I was paying for the Escape. I think, based on all that I have heard on this site, that I probably won't go wrong with my decision. Now I just need to sell my old boat, which I have listed on the Trading Dock.

JALICHTY,

Well - he done finally has DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT job (and SELECTION!)!

I hope the pics I took live up to your expectations!

Forgot to tell you - but those pics were of a SEA PRO! NOT!

Did you get a "colored hull"?

That's a BIG boat for a "22" - you're gonna' love it - LOTS of room for fish OR ski OR cruise!

Hope the motor "delivery" gets worked out soon - when I ordered my boat (new) back in '00, I "specified" for it not to be delivered 'til April 1 of '01, for various reasons (plus it was ordered from the factory).

The salesgirl called me on Feb. 20 and left a voicemail (laughing!), "It's HERE!".

I was so excited to get it EARLY, I went down that Saturday (the 24th) and picked it up! There was still a little SNOW on the banks of the river that afternoon when I put it in and put the first 2hrs. on it!

The waiting IS hard, but makes you appreciate it all the more when you get it - ESPECIALLY if it has to be picked up 1,000 or so MILES away like yours!

Keep us informed and CONGRATS!

Regards,

Bruce:

Thanks for the comments. The pictures you took earlier were one of the deciding factors in my selection of this boat. Yes, it is a "big" boat, the other two boats that I have had and ones I have fished on were about 19', no larger, so this will be a pretty big step. Should be plenty of fishing room as well as room for our, soon to be, six grandchildren and their parents. Maybe no 2' itis for a while. The boat is all white. I am not one to spend a lot of time washing and waxing a boat and I was concerned about oxidation of the color so I didn't get any color. Will get a white, Evinrude, 225 hp E-Tec and a whilte kicker, Johnson 4 stroke, so the thing will probably blind a bunch of people on the typical sunny days here in the mountain desert we call home. I took some pictures of my old white boat a few years ago and the sun was so bright that the boat just blinded the camera.

I hope to be able to figure out how to post pictures after we get the boat so I can put some on here to show off not only the boat but our beautiful mountain lakes, especially Jackson Lake.
