Default New Suzuki DF140?

Heard rumors of a revamped Zuke 140hp that supposedly has improved performance and weighs the same or less than a 150 Etec. Anyone else got any info?

I'm about to start a build on a new boat and this would be a great option if it ever became a reality.

The new DF140A has a new lean burn system, water-in-fuel alarm and a few other component updates. Same basic engine, and still lighter than the Etec 150.

For the less than 10 lb difference hanging on the transom, there will be a night versus day difference in performance between the Suzuki 140 and the Evinrude E-TEC 150.

I swapped a 150 Etec for a 140 Suzuki last year. Lost around 7 mph top end. You lose all around performance. You gain a more quiet engine and better fuel economy. I'm anxious to see the mpg results of the new 115a and 140a. All seem to be good motors, you just need to decide what is most important to you.

How much more mpg are you seeing with the older 140 Zuke vs the Etec?

We are seeing 15-20% better fuel economy between rhe "old" Suzuki 115and 140's nd the new "a" series just released. Several friends have recently upgraded to the new model and are amazed at the difference.

While the basic engine remains the same, under the cowl, you would barely recognise them as the same engine. Completely new exhaust and EFI systems, intakes, just about everything. Quieter, smoother, much better acceleration, and less emissions as well.

Any improvement on its speed at cruise or WOT?

Y&R, I don't remember exact numbers, but it was around 4 mpg on the Etec and 5.5 plus on the Suzuki. The Etec is much stronger. The Suzuki is more quiet and gets over 30 percent better economy. If the deal was great on another Etec, I would buy it. For me, I prefer economy over speed so my preference is four stroke. I don't discriminate with brand name or two stroke vs four stroke. I bought 4 etecs last year alone. I'm addicted to building/buying boats for fun. My wife doesn't care for it though.
